My condolences to Warren's family. I remember one of his visits on campus to Margaret Anderson's class. The students were in awe of the man who started Hutchins.

Thinking of you all at this time of loss. I really didn't know Warren, but from his history, it sounds like he lived a full and vibrant life.

Some of the best conversations I've ever had were with Warren and his family at Thanksgiving. Everyone was so generous with me and Maurine's food was terrific. Warren gave me a whole wonderful career and even more than that. Tony Mountain

Mr. Olson, dad of Rev. Berthold, my then-roommate Craig, will truly be missed as an insightful man with a gleam in his eye. My deepest sympathies to Mrs. Olson, Jeff, Marcie and Steve, and Rev. B.

The good professor Olson was not just a war hero but a master of the daily battles of life and inside/institutional politics. Once when visiting his son at a time when I was surrounded by an ugly political struggle in my work place--also a university, so a theater of action he knew well--he gave me advice that served me well then and always calls him and his grin to my mind when I pass it on: "Get a bigger umbrella."

In honor of his passing to the great Dixieland Band in the sky, I will listen to a favorite song, "Little Umbrellas," and imagine it transposed to a transcendental key, the musicians overarched by a giant umbrella as grand as the dome of the sky.

Here's a pradiddle, a flamadiddle, and a long double stroke roll for Warren, and a song in our hearts for those whose lives he touched and started.

much love,

Hi Olson family,

I wanted to send to you all my thoughts and condolences. As a very long distant relative, I just wanted you to be aware of my knowledge of your loss. I will never forget some years ago when Aunt Maureen and Uncle Warren were traveling in New England and they made a great effort to visit me & my family in New Hampshire. I never forgot. I appreciated the effort and loved the visit. Our Christmas letters became an annual treat, the writing was exceptional! All the best to Aunt Maureen and my cousins Jeff, Marcy, and Craig. Fondly, Karen
