Wayne Davis Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 9, 2026.
Wayne "Sweeny" Davis, age 69, passed away February 6, 2026. He was born December 9, 1956.

Known to nearly everyone as Sweeny, Wayne lived life on his own terms. He loved Harley-Davidson motorcycles, took pride in his work as an electrician, and was known for his sharp humor and blunt honesty. He was unforgettable and always the funniest person in the room.

Above all, Sweeny cherished his family and was a proud father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nancy and William Davis, and his brother, Pat Davis.

He is survived by his son, Josh Smerczynski; daughter-in-law, Erica Smerczynski; granddaughter, Grace Timmonds; sister, Vicki Widmor; brother, Bill Davis; and many family members and friends who will forever remember his laughter and stories.

Services will be held February 21st from 3-5 p.m. at Lansing United Methodist Church, 55123 Greenbank Ave., Lansing, OH 43934.

Sweeny, there aren´t enough words to thank you for everything you gave me. You didn´t just teach me a trade - you helped shape me into the electrician, and the person, I am today. You made the hard days lighter and the long hours meaningful. You had a gift for teaching that no one else has ever come close to, and I´ve had many teachers along the way.
I will always be grateful for your patience, your guidance, and the example you set. Thank you for believing in me and pushing me to be better.
You will be deeply and forever missed.
Love you, Sweeny.

My sorrow goes out to my precious family during this time of grief of loosing the person from their lives, who was so much fun to be around . From the time I would spend time with my Sister and Brother in law to be a part of babysitting to play with them.
To later in life of putting on my heart belongs to Harley t shirt jumping on his Harley and headed to the local hotel bar to the biker bar on the side of a hill!!
He was and will always be my little Sweeney!!!
Love you guys and as I´ve always said as I would leave you guys.
"Don´t forget me!!!!" Each of you are Special to me!!
Please know my prayers are with you to help you at this time.
