Wayne "Buddy" Geis

Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Coach, and Friend

Wayne R. Geis, affectionately known as "Buddy," passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025. Born in Altoona, Pennsylvania, Buddy's life was marked by passion, purpose, and a deep connection with those around him.

Buddy's career as a collegiate and professional football coach took him across the country, but his heart found a home in Neptune Beach, Florida, where he spent many cherished years. Whether walking on the beach at sunrise, enjoying coffee and conversation at Southern Grounds, or mentoring young athletes at football camps, Buddy lived each day with purpose, pride and an infectious laugh.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jere; his children, Adam (Julie) and Jeni; and his grandchildren, Jered, Jackson, and Daisy, who brought him endless pleasure and happiness. He is also survived by his siblings, Danny (Kay), Judy, Dottie, Bonnie, Nancy (Richard), and Susan along with a wide circle of nieces, nephews, friends, former players, neighbors, and colleagues who were touched by his wisdom, humor, and generosity.

We are deeply grateful to the dedicated staff at Baptist Medical Downtown/MD Anderson, especially those in the ICU, whose kindness, professionalism, and care brought comfort to our family during a difficult time.

Buddy's legacy lives on in the countless lives he influenced both on and off the field. His dedication to the game of football was matched only by his devotion to his family and community.

A visitation was held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Saturday, July 12, 2025, in Quinn Shalz Funeral Home of Jacksonville Beach, Florida. All who knew and loved Buddy are welcome to attend and celebrate a life well-lived with "no regrets."

"And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:20
