Wayne Gnat Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 3, 2025.
Wayne E. Gnat, age 74, departed this life on the morning of May 15th, 2025. The son of Chester & Audrey Gnat. He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Anne Gnat, and his two daughters, Tami Weiss & Crystal Schwab. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Steven Schwab.

Wayne was a proud grandfather to his grandchildren: Zohay, Aliah, Hadassah, and Gabriel Schwab. He is also survived by his brother, Gary Gnat; Gary's wife, Sue Gnat; his nephew, Wheeler Gnat (Sandra); his niece, Amber Luby (Dave); and Wayne's sister, Sharon Swan (Larry); his nephews, Kevin Swan (Shelly) and Joel Swan (Katie), along with many other relatives and friends.

Wayne was an accomplished steelworker and talented welder for many years. Wayne found great joy in taking motorcycle trips across the country and spent over four decades deer hunting-a tradition he cherished deeply. He was a strong personality who lived life on his own terms. He was known for his strong opinions and unique outlook on life.

One of the most memorable parts of Wayne's legacy was the way he expressed care through giving food. He delighted in putting together packages filled with delicious treats, sharing them with his grandkids, friends, and loved ones-not just as gifts, but as gestures of connection. Whether it was a favorite snack, venison, jerky, whiskey cheese, homemade soup, or something new to try, these small surprises brought joy to many and reminded everyone of his thoughtfulness. It was his quiet way of saying, 'I'm thinking of you.'

In this simple, generous act, he left behind a legacy of kindness, comfort, and the joy of sharing, that will continue to live on in the hearts of his friends and family.

A celebration of life gathering is being held June 8th, 2025 from 3pm to 6pm. We will be celebrating his memory. Please bring your best stories about Wayne as well as your appetite, a meal and drinks will be shared in remembrance.
