Wayne L. Hansen

Wayne L. Hansen, 96, of Millis died Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at his home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara J. Hansen and just celebrated their 71st anniversary.

Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on June 25, 1927. He was the son of the late Clarence and Evelyn (Maracek) Hansen.

Wayne was a resident of Millis since 1956. He attended high school at Watertown High, Massachusetts. After graduation, Wayne enlisted in the Navy; he was 17 years old. Wayne was a WWII Atomic Veteran and was involved in Operation Crossroads. He sailed the South Pacific. Wayne served on the liberty ship USS Cebu and the destroyer USS William M. Wood. He was also stationed in Shanghai, China.

Wayne started Hansen Electrical Supply in 1959. It became a popular family business in Framingham. He was a dedicated member of the Boston Athletic Association and cheered runners each year in front of the store on Waverly Street. He encouraged the runners to "check out" their style in the front window of the business.

Wayne loved boating with his family, traveling on the high seas on their boat, the Home Away. They traveled to and from Nantucket and Naples, Florida. A long time member of the Nantucket Anglers Club, he participated in many deep sea fishing tournaments.

As a dedicated member of the Millis American Legion, Wayne looked forward to and was proud to march in the Memorial Day parade. He was also involved with the Framingham Lion's Club, Masons, and Shriners.

He leaves behind five children: Pamela Sette and her husband, Stephen of Milford; Rodney Hansen and his wife, Sharon of Marco Island, Florida; Jeffrey Hansen and his wife, Lisa of East Falmouth; Lauren McNamara and her late husband, Thomas of Medway; Penelope Hansen of Millis. He leaves behind 11 grandchildren and eight great-children.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on July 3, 2023 from 9 to 11 AM at Roberts Mitchell Caruso Funeral Home, 90 Curve Street, Millis followed by a funeral service at 11 AM. Burial will follow at the Prospect Hill Cemetery.
