Wayne Horne

Wayne Laverne Horne, a talented artist, cartoonist, and graphic designer, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024, in Phoenix, Arizona, at the age of 97. Born on September 29, 1927, in Omaha, Nebraska, Wayne lived a life rich with creativity, adventure, and love.

After serving in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II, Wayne attended the Kansas City Art Institute. His artistic talents flourished throughout his lifetime as he pursued a career that combined his passion for art with his professional endeavors. Even in his later years, Wayne remained dedicated to his craft, drawing cartoons until the very end and creating one final Christmas card just days before his passing.

Wayne shared over 68 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Suzanne Horne. Together, they explored the world, visiting more than a dozen countries during their time living abroad in Saudi Arabia. Their shared love for travel was matched by their affection for cats, especially their cherished Burmese companion, Kahlua.

During the 1960s and 70s, Wayne enjoyed exploring small towns in Arizona with his family and friends. Jerome and Prescott were among the frequent destinations. Wayne had a great appreciation for movies-*No Country for Old Men* and *The Blues Brothers* were favorites-as well as music by crooners like Frank Sinatra and country legends such as Willie Nelson. He also held a lifelong interest in African and Middle Eastern art.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Genevieve Horne; his sister, Vivian; and his brother, Ivan. He is survived by his devoted wife Suzanne and their two sons, Marc Van Horne and Doug Horne.

Wayne's artistic legacy and zest for life will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him.
