I was extremely fortunate to serve with Wayne, while we were assigned to Bolling Air Force Base, in Washington, DC. He epitomized professionalism, compassion, courage, and extreme regard for others. I truly admired his ability to address difficult challenges, topics, and resistance, that were inherent in the Air Force Equal Opportunity program. Wayne embodied exemplary skills, talents, and professional maturity, that enabled him to persevere, and accomplish his objectives. He personified excellence in all he did, and I was truly blessed to know, and learn from him.

For over 14 years, I had the honor of working alongside a colleague who became a dear friend. He brought energy, joy, and warmth to every room - never afraid to give a shout-out, share a laugh, or start a conversation with anyone. He believed in me before I believed in myself, often reminding me that I was meant to lead. As I try to live up to that encouragement, I carry his words with me. From all of us at CPS, we love him deeply - he will be missed but never forgotten.

Uncle Wayne, I will always cherish our moments together. Not just because I loved your company, conversations, love of music and sports. ..
You were an understanding ear, when I felt no one could hear. You were a light, when I felt I was falling into night. You were a rope, when I started to lose hope. You were pat on my back, when my own confidence may lack. You were and always be the Man I will always try to be, because you believed in me!
Rest in Peace My Brother!
Love Always, Andre'

My deepest condolences to the entire Piper Family. So sorry for Your loss and praying the memories made and the Love shared with Wayne will echo in Your heart for years to come.
I met Wayne several years ago when he was visiting his sister (Cynthia Mercado) here in Maryland. Cynthia and I both was on the Trustee Board. At that time I needed assistance in cutting down a tree on the property. Cynthia recommended Wayne and introduce us. We bonded in brotherly Love immediately. Since that time we would periodically call each other until his illness.
Rest in Peace Brother Wayne Piper. I too shall see You over Yonder!!

Wayne warmly greeted me during my first week at CPS Energy. We made a special connection knowing we were both AF veterans. As we continued to work together over the years that followed, we shared unforgettable conversations and experiences that made us and our work very special. We became "champions" for each other and I truly appreciate the way he spoke into my life and the genuine interest he showed in our CPS Energy team members. His warmth, laughter and fellowship will be truly missed.
Joann & I pray that his children, grandchildren and family find peace and comfort knowing that Wayne left such an amazing legacy in so many before entering into his rest!
