Wayne Maynard Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 23, 2024.
Long time Eugene Resident and Retired Business owner, Wayne Maynard passed away, from Heart Failure at home. He leaves behind his loving wife and life's partner, Lori who was with him at his passing. Wayne, also known as Dutch, by many, was a talented and diverse man. He owned Bars and Wedding Chapels in Reno Nevada and as an Ordained Minister preformed over 3,000 weddings during that time.

Wayne was also a Real Estate Developer, owning properties in Oregon and Idaho. He was a Commercial Appraiser and Appraised over 3 Billion Dollars of Large Real Estate Developments all over the United States and United Kingdom.

Wayne also loved to sing and play his guitar with friends and family in jam sessions. His lovely voice was in love with Country Western Music, especially those written by Kris Kristofferson. Wayne's extended family and friends loved getting together. He loved the family get together's and enjoyed the closeness of the family. He was a caring, loving man who never met a stranger.

Wayne was a Certified Flight Instructor, who loved nothing more than being up among the clouds. Many of his students went on to become involved in commercial flying. Those who stayed as Private Pilots' also we re still in contact with him over the years. He had a Private Pilot school at the Creswell Airport in Creswell Oregon in the Early 2000's. He was very proud of each and every one of his students of which there were many.

He had two Sons and two Daughters, Willard Wayne (Wayne Jr.) and Daniel Mark (Danny) and Virginia Ruth (Ginger) who preceded him in death. He has a daughter, Lois Michelle (Miki) who resides in Iowa. He was a Grandfather of 7 and Great Grandfather of 4.

We will miss this man sorely, our lives will have a void where he once lived.

Even though he was not a member of the Church of the Latter Day Saints his prior flight student and his friends wanted to honor him by holding his Memorial Service at 3132 River Rd., on November 16th,at 2:00 where all are welcome to help celebrate his life. There will be food and fellowship following for all who would like to participate.

You were loved and honored with a Memorial service that gave a lasting and acknowledgement of your endearing presence on this planet. Hearts are broken and memories renewed. You are an indelible mark on those who new and admired you. Until we meet again.

I did not have as much time as I would have liked to play guitar and sing with Dutch. We did play a small gig here, where we were neighbors. I met Dutch much too late. He will be missed. I will miss his smile, measured conversation and the jaunty way he wore that ever present cowboy hat. I know we would have become close friends.

We are so very sorry to hear of Wayne´s passing Our most precious memories are the times we gathered together for guitar playing and sing alongs, especially around the campfire-we can still hear his beautiful deep voice singing Ghost Riders in the Sky, King of the Road and Sunday Morning Coming Down...just to name a few He was always entertaining, mesmerizing us with tales of his many unique experiences. More importantly, he was a caring and gentle man who made everyone feel special and always showed an interest in our lives. Wayne was an important part of our life´s history and he is greatly missed.
Our sincere condolences to you, Lori, and his family

Hello, this is Jonathon, Danny's son. I only have one memory of Wayne when I visited in Oregon once as a kid. He showed me his really cool cargo van. It was probably nothing special but I will never forget that trip and meeting my Grandpa and Grandma for the first time.

Really wish I could have gotten to know my dads side of the family more. I would love to reconnect with who I can. I cant leave my phone number here because I don't know if this is public. Please email me at if you want to talk though.
