FREWSBURG - Wayne E. Quattrone, 83, formerly of Frewsburg, passed away Wednesday (Nov. 2, 2022) in UPMC Chautauqua.

He was born Aug. 23, 1939, in Salamanca, the son of the late Peter E. and Ruth B. Wilson Quattrone.

Wayne attended Allegany High School and later received his GED. He earned an associate's degree from Jamestown Community College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy from 1956-1960, where he served aboard the USS Independence.

He was a police officer for the City of Salamanca from 1962 to 1965, then transferred to Busti Police Department from 1965 to 1982, where he was appointed chief of police for the Busti Police Department in 1968. After retiring from the police department, he was head of security at WCA Hospital from 1984 to 1988, then he was the director of security for United Refining Company for 19 years, retiring in 2004. He was also a truck driver for Joe Bonfiglio and Ron Snyder, and was a private investigator.

He was a life member of the following organizations: New York State Police Chiefs Association, National Rifle Association, Busti Trap Club, American Hunting Club and the American Legion Samuel Derby Post 556. He was a member of Conduit Ministries Church.

Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap and skeet shooting, from which he was a NYS trap shooting champion multiple years. He will be remembered for the love he had for his family.

He is survived by his seven children, Darlene (Charlie) Doepp of Busti, Wayne (Erica) Quattrone II of Fluvanna, Laurie Quattrone of Kiantone, Jim (Nancy) Quattrone of Jamestown, Tina (Rick) Simon of Dewittville, Tracey Storer of Celeron and Jason (Brittney) Quattrone of Warren, Pa.; five stepchildren, Lyle (Tammy) Whippo, Greg Whippo and Lori (Ron) Eckman, all of Frewsburg, Paul (Michelle) Whippo of Kiantone and Rick (Kathy) Whippo of Kennedy; 47 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Rick Ross; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Florence E. "Flo" Quattrone on March 3, 2021; daughter, Lisa Ross; granddaughter, Alyana Gedz; two sisters, Barbara (Robert) Byrne and Amy (George) Siafakis; and his former wife, Patricia Klein.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 8, 2022) at Conduit Ministries in Jamestown. Pastor Cameron Lienhart and Pastor Dan Cook will officiate. Burial will be in Fentonville Cemetery. Friends will be received from noon to 3 p.m., three hours prior to the service on Tuesday, in the church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg.

I was sorry to see the sad news of Wayne's passing. I always enjoyed talking wih him. He was a handsome guy. RIP Wayne. Wayne and were cousins.
