Wayne Rogers Obituary

Wayne Rogers
May 27, 1959-Aug. 29, 2014
San Francisco
When Wayne was born we nearly lost him, so we are eternally grateful for the 55 years we had him. He grew up healthy and happy in Concord, graduating from Clayton Valley High, class of 1977. He continued on to Stanford, earning a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Wayne started his career with Hughes in Los Angeles, lived in Germany for two years before returning to the Bay Area in 1992 to join Loral Space in Palo Alto, specializing in satellite propulsion systems.
Wayne became an accomplished violinist, playing in orchestras and music groups in the Bay Area, Los Angeles and Europe. His involvement in swimming took him to competitions world-wide.
When Wayne was diagnosed with leukemia he opted for a bone marrow transplant. For a while it seemed he had won, but the disease suddenly came back and quickly overcame him. Throughout this trying time he was supported by his long-time partner and husband, Frank Wild. They were married in 2008.
A large number of friends are missing Wayne now, but most especially his family: parents, James and Elfriede Rogers of Concord; brothers, Gregory (Linda) Rogers of San Ramon, Harold (Nancy) Rogers and Vernon Rogers, both of San Diego; nieces, Jessie, Kristin and Kylie Rogers; nephews, Steven, Geordan and Cole Rogers; husband, Frank Wild and, of course, their little dog Stella. Small group memorials are being planned. Please visit Wayne's favorite charity at http://musicinschoolstoday.org/wayne-rogers.
