After a brief but courageous fight, while comforted by his loving wife Laura family and dear friends, Wayne lost his life to cancer on August 21, 2020. Born in Alexandria, Virginia, Wayne a true Southern gentleman expanded his life and horizons with his 30 year marriage to Laura DeSimone. He came to cherish his Northern home, career, new family and countless friends. His life was filled with travel, adventures, beauty and appreciation of diverse and new places and people. Incredibly talented and creative, Wayne was a passionate gardener either creating and caring for his own or admiring the work of others from Europe to Asia, Africa, Australia and more. His entire career was in retail where he was known for his dedication to the success of his employers and the caring and mentoring of his co-workers. Wayne was predeceased by his parents, James Shepard and Priscilla Wilson and step father Charles Wilson. In addition to his wife, Laura, mourning his loss are his father and mother-in-law, Pasquale and Eleanor DeSimone and brothers-in-law, Robert DeSimone (Dorothy) and Christopher DeSimone (Cheryl). Also mourning his passing are his siblings, Judith Forehand Starkey (James), Sue Novak (John), Carol Natoli, Mildred Nell (Larry), James Shepard (Ceary), Charles Shepard and Garri Shepard. Wayne adored his many nephews and nieces, providing guidance through their lives. They include Michael Forehand (Emily), Kenneth Shepard (Katie), Glen Thorne, Daniel Shepard, David Shepard, Timothy DeSimone (Rachel), Rachael DeSimone, Emily DeSimone and Haley DeSimone. In light of the current pandemic, there will be no services, however a Celebration of Life will be planned for a date in 2021. If desired, memorial tributes may be made in memory of Wayne Shepard to: Heritage Museum and Gardens, 67 Grove Street, Sandwich, MA 02563 http://www.heritagemuseums.org/make-a-gift.

Laura. So sad to hear about the loss of Wayne! It was always so much fun to hear about where you and Wayne traveled around the world. I would eagerly look forward to seeing you in the gym upon your return from one of your trips so I could hear about the exotic adventures.

As you know Wayne and I met once at Paramount Cleaners. You know how that went. I felt like I had known Wayne for years because of the amazing stories you shared with me about him. He seemed so kind and so much fun!

My sincere condolences to you and your entire family! May you find comfort, peace and love during this difficult time!

Wayne is surrounded by angels! RIP!❤

Sorry for your loss, my condolences and prayers to the family.
I knew Wayne from when I worked at the bank over 10 years ago.
He was such a kind and sweet gentleman.
His way of looking at life was contagious, and I will never forget it.
He will live on inside each and everyone of us.
Rest in the sweetest peace Wayne, we will never forget you.

I've known Wayne since Jr. High and he was one of the nicest, most genuine, encouraging and supportive people I've ever met. Our last face-to-face conversation was at our 40 year reunion and we talked about life, living it to the fullest and not having any regrets. I lived vicariously through Wayne and Laura's amazing photos of their travels. While his life was much too short, he lived it to the fullest and I'm so thankful for his kindness and friendship. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. Until we meet again, my friend.

My condolences to Wayne's family during this difficult time. I was saddened to hear the news that he had passed away. I worked with Wayne during my time at Staples. He was no doubt one of the most sincere and hardworking managers that I have ever worked with. He was easy to talk to and down to earth. I'm appreciative of his support that he gave me when I had asked him to write references for me when I was in college and for also helping me grow at Staples even if it was just a job that we knew I would be leaving once I graduated. We shared a mutual appreciation of each other even after I left; Wayne was such a world-traveller and his photos were great to see--he inspires me to continue to travel as much as I can. Rest in peace, Wayne.

It's been a long time. Much to long. We take life for granted. I'm so sorry that I did. We were brother in-laws but I always considered you and your brothers and sisters as my brothers and sisters. I'm just so sorry that I let so much time slip away. You were a good man and a wonderful Uncle to Scott and your other nephews and nieces.
May you rest in peace my brother.

Oh, Laura ❤ My heart broke when I saw this. It sounds like you had a wonderful life together. Wayne’s smile was always contagious through the Alexandria Bradlees opening and thereafter so many years ago. His corny jokes were what made Wayne Wayne I will forever think of him fondly. I’ve enjoyed your travel and family pictures over the years. May your memories of life together bring unexpected blessings

I am so sorry to hear about Wayne. We worked together, though in different stores, at Linens’N Things, and he was always down to earth. We kept in touch over the years, and he was always there to provide encouragement and support when I was going through some touch times at other jobs. RIP my friend.

What a huge loss. I worked with Wayne for several years and remember him as a solid person and wonderful coworker. I will always have pleasant memories of him and even though it has been a while since I’ve seen him in person I had always treasured out time together. Much love to you and your family.

Laura
My heart sank when I saw this. Wayne was such a down to earth, straight forward, caring, genuine interesting and wonderful human being. I always looked forward to picking the two of you up. I will miss his fun stories and great tidbits of advice. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. Something I will carry for the rest of my days, seeing the two of you walk through my door when my mom passed to help comfort us 6 months ago. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family. If I can be of help in any way, please reach out. Wayne went to be with the Lord and may he rest in the sweetest peace. (((Hug)))

My condolences to Laura and the hole family. You may not know me but I know you from the many stories and pictures Wayne would show us at work. Working with Wayne at staples was special because he really pushed me and taught me so much as a boss, coworker and friend. When I lost my mom while working at staples Wayne was right their at the services as a “family member” would do. Me and my husband really adored him and loving gave him the nickname of Uncle Wayne because he really made you feel like family even when he was mad at you for not filling the shelves. Wayne you were a class act and you sure will be missed.
