I can't believe it's been eight years. I miss Wayne every single day of my life. But I know he is with me. The scooby you hung in your van is still hanging in my car and protects me in my daily travel through life. I thank God I had him to lean on. He was always there for me.

This webpage had to remind me that you have left this world, eight years ago. I think of how you'd annoy me. I think of how you got me to laugh. I remember great times in Bonjer's van like they were only last week. I remember why you gave him that name. I know you threw Petty a party when he showed up. I can be on the other side of the continent and pretend you are being you in Scituate but not today. I miss you.
Craig & Wayne - brothers together again in Heaven...think of you often & miss you everyday!

Wayne, we were friends back in High School and took the bus together on the rare occasions that you actually stooped so low... It's nearly impossible for a real life person to be as cool as "The Fonz" but you my friend were even cooler. You loved music and to partially quote lyrics from a Rod Stewart song: "No party was complete, without Wayne". So true. We spent so many good times together with our group of friends back then and again out of the sheer coolness that you incarnated; it was you with a few chosen others who created the infamous HIGH NOON GANG. I never told you but while visiting the Vatican I saw High Noon carved into the stone wall on the way up the many stairs to the tower! I thought of you that day and again with your passing, I think of you and relive many of those good times long ago.
One especially fond memory of you was my last night as an actual resident of Scituate some 27 odd years ago, before leaving to live in Switzerland when we went to Fenway Park in your van “LUNA” with Keith and other friends because you guys said I couldn’t leave without having seen at least one Red Sox baseball game. You showed me off in style.
Another memorable time was when WBCN had a contest for the “best gift to the town of Boston”. We didn’t plan anything and the deadline day arrived. Sitting in your room you decided we couldn’t just NOT enter. You wanted to paint Keith’s Fury III car with WBCN colors but we said that wouldn’t work. Time was running out. So your idea of covering his car with WBCN bumper stickers being more feasible, we gathered enough stickers and covered the entire car in just a few hour’s time. Then we drove into the radio station just minutes before the 6 p.m. deadline and you and Keith ran up to the station and entered the car in the contest. We didn’t win but we definitely had a great time that day and did not go unnoticed in Boston or around town riding in the WBCN-Mobile. That was you Wayne, fun, exciting, laughing; loving life, friends, good times, music, etc. If you hadn’t already existed, we would have had to invent you. You were simply one of a kind.
You marked my life. I regret that we lost contact when I left the States. You were a good man who endured health problems with the uttermost discretion and dignity. May your soul soar in liberty like a musical note in the breeze on a sunny day. My deepest sympathy goes out to the Whitfield family and to your many, many friends. Goodbye Wayne. R.I.P.

Wayno, From my first show, Aerosmith 1976, to my son's first show, Aerosmith 2010, you were there. High Noon at the Rocks, Philly, The Storm of 78, Uncle Sam's, Vannin'; you were always there. Now you are not. "Go on, take another little piece of my heart now baby." You lived and died on your own terms. You are a rock star. I'll remember and miss you always. Party on Wayne! Luv ya!

Wayne...I will always remember the video you put together with me to win a contest called the "The dirty laundry contest...The winners got an all expense paid trip 1st class...to the Rose Bowl to meet the rock group The Eagles w/ back stage passes...." and of course your creativity won it! We got to spend a week out in Califoria with the Band and free tickets to Universal studios. Your an awsome friend and I will never forget you. You were always the guy that scored the tickets to all the big rock shows, organized trips to philly for the Stones and all sorts of concerts, van runs ect. You knew how to make life happen and made it fun...I will miss you so much....but we will meet again....my love and friendship forever!!!

Wayne
I'm so very saddened with your passing,
You play a large part in the many colorful memories i have growing up in Scituate.- A Great town, because of families like the Whitfields.
Being 'best-buds' with your younger brother Craig for a long time meant sometimes being the target of you're comical cynicism.. You put the "Wit in Whitfield" Man ! -i'ts just what 'friends older brother's' do.. but it never hurt that bad.. cause you were always funny as hell.. in fact it only made you "cooler"..
That would mellow over the years as we got older. These day's i really want to chat.. and i can't..
and it hurt's badly..
You and your Bro, and whole family were always so good to me back then.. whether it be camping, boating, meals,
house parties, late-night 'B' movie's on this new thing - cable TV, and on and on.. - It was a GREAT time..
I'v had music in my life now, thankfully for a long time.
All because at about age 12 or 13' i suppose, i was fixated on an electric bass you had always sitting on your bed -amidst the vast "habitrail city" you had set up for your pet gerbils.. a cool room indeed!
You knew i wanted that bass bad.. and finally sold it to me -for a pretty good deal if i remember right.
I haven't stopped playing..
Thank's WayneO
There's many memories and things to discuss, and so many whose lives - your great life touched.. We'll all be waiting Wayne..
Your Adventure never stopped, And never will !
Your a Great Person Wayne ! *ROCK ON !!
I'll miss you Man..

"And me, I still believe in paradise. But now at least I know it's not some place you can look for, 'cause it's not where you go. It's how you feel for a moment in your life when you're a part of something, and if you find that moment... it lasts forever..."
Paradise is vanning and our family. And our family is one less now. I still haven't accepted that I have to say goodbye tomorrow. But it's not goodbye, it's see you later. Things will never be the same, but I know you'll always be with us, in our hearts and our memories and stories we will tell forever.
I miss you already. See you in the big run in the sky. Have my coffee ready, you know I always need it in the morning
Love you always Luna.

Wayne spent a tremendous amount of his time with us at Continental Cablevision, giving of his time and talents to help us all create and work on many local access television programs in the early days of cable TV. Wayne also helped his Dad, Peter, on a number of Pete’s famous television efforts around Scituate. Wayne liked to give back to his community and to his friends everywhere-it runs in his family. He worked hard at The Gannett Grille for years, and catered many events around town-he loved to cook (-made great Chowdaah, too). But he sure did love his vans, and his HO trains. While volunteering with us at Scituate Cable, there were many side-splitting, face-hurting laughs we all had at the old Scituate American Cable TV studios downtown in Scituate Harbor. He crewed with a great group of friends just to be creative, have some fun, and have a whole lot of laughs. Most notably, his efforts with the crew of After Hours at Studio 53, and with Tommy Dunham’s Comedy Club TV programs-all as a volunteer, were hilarious, creating comedy bits and videos. If I can share a story here: I vividly remember Wayne calling and asking me to bring a camcorder over to his house to videotape something for him. I said sure, I grabbed a camera and went over to Bullrush Farm Rd. Wayne said: “Hey Bob: have you ever heard of a really good singing dog?”, “Ahh, no...” I said. “Well: set up the camcorder, roll tape, and listen.” Luna said. Wayne then grabbed a guitar out of his van, started to play it, and started singing a James Taylor tune. His big-ol’ Springer Spaniel (the wonderful Dog’s name escapes me) then came oh-so-slowly sauntering out of the garage door, went over right next to Wayne who was leaning on his Van, plopped himself sitting down, and raised his head looking right up at Wayne’s face. He then started to howl and wail on every single note that Wayne sang of Fire and Rain. There was Luna, straight faced, singing away trying so hard not to laugh, the dog wailing in perfect time, and Shannon, Peter, Jaime Oliver, and I laughing so hard with tears, luckily getting all of this on tape. I hope someone has that video for us to see somewhere on Facebook someday. This was Luna’s life, enjoying it all by being around his large extended family, being the straight man for a good Dog, being next to a good Van, and giving something back for all of us to enjoy. Thanks for the memories Luna.

Wayne, Luna, Vanner, chef, friend, brother, whatever title you attach just doesn't cover all you were in this world. You had such a sense of humanity and vision, and no one could match your humor or wisdom.
You taught us much in your life with so many struggles in yours, you also made us laugh at ourselves and to see the balance of humor and reality.
I now cherish so many memories of times together and with others, and feel so very blessed to have been able to know this wonderment we Vanners lovingly refer to as 'Luna'.
