RIPLEY – Wayne Windham, 76, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2014, at Tippah County Hospital in Ripley.
Wayne was born on April 6, 1938, to Oscar and Elmer Holley Windham in Tippah County, Mississippi. He was owner of Ripley's First Monday Trade Day, Inc. for more than 40 years and Fairview Portable Buildings. He was a member of Biggersville Pentecostal Church.
Services will be today, November 17, 2014, at 2 p.m. at McBride Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Peoples Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7 a.m. until service time at the Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty Gattis Windham, Ripley; one daughter, Cheryl Thurmond (Keith) and one son, Jerry Wayne Windham (Allison), both of Ripley; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Thomas R. and Clara Gattis, Ripley; five grandchildren, Dr. Ross Thurmond (Mollie), Madison, Holly Marie Thurmond (fiancé Tim Pataki), Washington, D.C., Bennett Wayne Windham (Katie Lee), Madison, Brad Thomas Wayne Windham and Zoe Mikaila Windham, both of Ripley; one great-granddaughter, Clara Ross Thurmond, Madison; two sisters, Lola Hurt, Ripley, Rachel Windham Gattis (Terrell), Jacksonville, Ala.; two brothers, Artie Windham, Mt. Pleasant, Joe Wade Windham, Germantown, Tenn.; his caregiver, Robert Bruce, Ripley.
Mr. Windham was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mae Bennett; two brothers, Leland and Robert Windham; one brother-in-law, Ausbin Hurt.
Pallbearers will be Keith Thurmond, Ross Thurmond, Bennett Windham, Brad Windham, Willie Bryan, Gary Bryan, Terrell Gattis.
Honorary pallbearers will be Artie Windham and Joe Windham.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to Peoples Cemetery Fund, Sherri Rowell, P.O. Box 28, Ripley, MS 38663

Cheryl, my deepest sympthy on the death of your Dad. I never met him but I have always admired all he did for Tippah county, providing meals during holidays and making First Monday famous. He definitely set a good to a caring daughter.
