As stated before, I didn't know him, but ran across his obit and was truly impressed. From what I read, he's in heaven for his good deeds he left behind on earth. Happy birthday! Mary Jane Spruel

So sorry. I go to Carleton, and started researching Evelyn Andersojn Haymaker, once I read a blub ablout her in Anderson Hall and came upon this. My uncle died from suicide, so I know what the impacts are. Hope everything is well and will get better.

I am late in sharing my condolences, but I only read about Webb's passing in the Carleton Voice today. I remember reading the powerful article in the same publication a few years back about Webb and his father and what they have done to stand against gun violence. I didn't know Webb well (I graduated from Carleton in 1999). But I vividly remember the respect that most of my favorite music professors had for him, especially Professor Rhodes. Webb always seemed very steadfast in his studies and dedicated to his passion for music, a quality I always admire for it usually speaks to a person's caring, sensitivity, and empathy toward others. It does not surprise me that he lived a life dedicated to using that empathy which can often be a hard burden to bear. My sympathies go to those who are no longer blessed with his physical presence, but my hope is that his care for his family lives on and will continue to be felt.

I live on the West Coast now, so I just heard about this today, more than a month after. I am devastated, and cannot begin to find the right words. Webb, you were an amazing young man and a gift to us all. There are no words for this. Rest in power.

I had the pleasure and the honor of knowing and having Webb in my life as a colleague and a friend. Initially, as we both have just arrived to Connecticut, he reached out to me with his usual gentle and kind manner to ask for support in helping youth at risk in a job he had just started in New Haven, Connecticut. Quite quickly, what began like clinical supervision resulted in a friendship built on mutual admiration. I feel lucky to have met Webb and mourn his loss as his presence in my life made me a better person and reminded me of the strength of the human heart. His legacy will continue through the lives of those he helped and loved , many no doubt, as he lived a life of duty and service guided by love , humbleness and hard work.

I read Webb's obituary and was so impressed with his giving spirit. It is so good to hear about a person with such a magnitude of caring about others. From what I read, wish he could still be here, but heaven has found another helping hand.

So sorry to hear this sad news, Holly. So many, including my family, have been touched by suicide, and it's so hard to understand. You and your family will be in my thoughts.

I so enjoyed the time I spent with Webb at Carleton. He had such a kind and gentile soul, and my spirits were always uplifted after being around him.

Webb will always hold a beloved place in my heart and in my memory, My favorite memory of him was when he was a little boy at University Methodist Preschool. We were outside at the sandbox. Some children wanted help with their sand, and some children wanted to show off their sand creations. Webb played quietly, doing his own thing without, fairly oblivious to what the other children were doing. Far away in the distance, the LSU band started playing... they must've been practicing... and Webb heard it, leapt to his feet and began marching around the sandbox and playing an imaginary drum. He was IN that band for the moment, just living, loving and playing to his heart's content! It was absolutely magical to witness, and it has to be my fondest memory from my time working at the preschool.
The world was better for Webb being here. He was a beautiful human being. Much love to Webb's family. I keep you all in my prayers.
Love,
Felicia
