I just found this online. My heart is sad. I worked with Weldon while I was at Peters Griffin Woodward and again while I worked for Petry TV. Weldon was a wonderful man, Barbara. Please accept my sincerest condolences. Eternal rest grant unto him and may perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

Barbara and family,
I've read every word everyone has written about Weldon in this memorial. I just found out and did not want any time to pass before writing...that "getting back to you" was one of the things Weldon ALWAYS did.
Yes, Superman, all around good guy, gentleman, interested in YOU, fun, funny...we've gone on and on because it is so easy to do about Weldon.
I knew Weldon for a long time and NEVER had anything but FUN with him.
Just one of the highlights was in the late 70's when going into the Old Town Mexican Restaurant with a group including maybe 10 of us, including Weldon and Barbara, Harry and his wife. It was about 3PM and the place was nearly empty. When I asked for all of us to be seated for lunch, I was asked did we have reservations. My wife Claudia burst through the group, with a smile on her face and said: WE HAD RESERVATIONS ABOUT COMING IN THIS PLACE, NOW GIVE US ONE OF THESE EMPTY TABLES!! I thought Weldon was going to fall down he was laughing so hard.
That's one of the things Weldon did...he brought up the FUN QUOTIENT in all of us and every one!
God bless and keep YOU, dear friend. Weldon you are missed deeply.

Barbara, I'm very sorry to hear about Weldon. He was a mentor of mine and a very good friend.I worked with him when I was with Petry Television. He also hired me at KUSI in 1998. I will remember him always particularly on cinco de mayo, his birthday.

I didn't know Weldon had passed away - very sad to hear. No management person I've ever known was so encouraging and gave so much recognition to employees. So many of us received notes from Weldon for a job well done or a special occasion - and it always meant a lot. This was a true gentleman!

Barbara, and family,

I am so bummed that I had to miss Weldon's memorial yesterday. I had planned to attend since I heard the news, but at the last minute something game up that I couldn't get out of. I'm sure the memorial was lovely, and many, many memories were shared.

I'm sure you know how much he meant to me. He was more than just a good friend. As I've written previously, he was my mentor in the HB, and I learned so much from him. Besides his knowledge and insights regarding college football, he had a tremendous sense of humor. Rarely did anyone get in the last word with "Wendall," my pet name for him. I will miss him very much, but I know he is in a better place. He's probably on the golf course right now with Bob Shumake, and both are getting ready for college football season!

Again, Barbara, I'm so sorry to have missed the memorial. My condolences to you and your family.

Weldon was a legend in this community for so many reasons. Professionally, civic involvement, socially and most importantly, for his family, he was a leader and someone who could be counted on to do the right thing...always.

He is gone far too soon and will be greatly missed. We were proud to call him our friend.

Weldon was a kind and fun person to be around. He and I were at KFMB for many years and I will always remember his special hand-written notes placed in my mail box on the anniversary of my being at the station. I still have the one from 1989. It read, "John, Congratulations on your ninth anniversary! You've made major contributions. Weldon."
The little things are what made Weldon special and he knew how to treat people.
I pray for the family to be given an extra portion of comfort from the Lord at this difficult time.

I accidently acquired Weldon as an e-mail correspondent in my early days of learning about e-mail. Over the years I have enjoyed my association with him and he certainly came across as a gentleman and interesting correspondent. He even sent me a most interesting book about World War II in England.
It was obvious he was a proud family man and I am sure he will be greatly missed and mourned by them. My sincere condolences.

My wife Cris and I pray for Barbara and the family and many ,many friends both personal and professional for the comfort of our Lord during this time of both loss and more importantly the Celebration of his going home. It seems like yesterday that Barbara and Weldon along with Harry and Barbara Melkerson shared great food and beverages at Casa de Pico in Old Town, along with any other times with media buyers clamoring for us to schedule time for them with Weldon. I know many of us would love to be there at Qualcom to celebrate with the family and friends. Blessings to all who have known and loved him. David and Cristine Handler.

Weldon will always be an inspiration to anyone who knew him. He always made the time to listen to our MANY MANY problems as baby buyers trying to climb that corporate ladder. So many lunches, drinks and dinners at the Palm...some of my best negotiations were on Palm napkins. We've lost a true friend. Thoughts and prayers to Barbara and the family.

I was so sad to hear about Weldon's passing. He was always & will always be one of my "favorites". My favorite "station guy". Whenever Harry & Weldon wanted to make the trip up to LA to see buyers it was always an easy phone call to make. He was not only my favorite - he was everyone's favorite. After all he was "Superman". It was going to be the Harry & Weldon show & it always made for a good time. It could be a lunch, drinks or dinner; or just a call in a buyer's office, but it was sure to be fun. Weldon was such a gentleman & it was so appreciated by all. I could go on & on, but then you all know what a great man Weldon was & how much he touched all of our lives & how much he will be missed. I hope he's as happy where he is now as he made everyone he has left behind to remember him,

Special friend for over 60years. Grew up together. Raised families together. Grew old together. Created GREAT memories doing so.
Weldon was one of those special people who would give you the shirt off his back and then ask if you needed anything else.
My heart and prayers are with his wife, Barbara, his children, and his grandchildren. Via Con Dios me Amigo!

Weldon and I worked together at KFMB. He was TV and I was radio. He was instrumental in mentoring me and getting me out of radio. He wanted to hire me for sales but wasn't in my plan. Over the years, Weldon would call and check on me. He was a very caring and sweet person. He will be missed by so many. My condolences to the Donaldson family. He will always have a place in my heart.
