With heavy hearts, but with enduring and cherished memories, The Johnston family announce the peaceful passing of Weldon on Sunday, May 14, 2017, in his 96th year. Weldy was the beloved husband of the late Alice Wall. Dear father of Wallace (Sandy), Charlene and Charlotte (Hal Leitch). Much loved Grandpa of Brad (Tanyssa Moise), David (Catherine Proulx), Andrew and Sarah Johnston, Natalie, Megan (Kyle Chadwick) and Jessica Greenough. Proud Great- Grandfather of Hailey and Zoe Thorp. Dear friend of Anne Crosley. Predeceased by siblings, Eva Hodgins, Myrtle Boyle, W. Erskine Johnston, Anna Johnston and Isabel Montgomery and Great Grandson Carter Thorp. A forthright gentleman and audacious defender of democracy; Weldon lived a long and honourable life. He loved his family, his community, his country, politics, Sir Winston Churchill and his Leafs. Friends may call at the

on Wednesday, May 17 from 2-5 and 7-9 and Thursday, May 18 from 9 -10. Funeral will be held on Thursday, May 18 at 11 at Christ Church Huntley, Carp Road. For those that wish, donations to St. John's Anglican Church Memorial Fund, The Fairview Manor Foundation or Christ Church Cemetery Fund would be appreciated by the family. Charlotte and Anne: My condolences to you on the loss of your father and very dear friend. During Rolly's stay at the Fairview I had daily visits with Weldon and was amazed with his memory of family and times past. He was able to climb this last mountain of Life knowing he was dearly loved by all of you.

Sincere sympathy to all the Johnston family on Weldon's passing. I always remember seeing the lights of his home from my farm at night way back in the field and the cars going in & out your long lane!! Lots of memories from Diamondview Rd. RIP

I remember your dad well; he was very kind to me when we lived in Carp, in 1968-69. I remember him yelling, 'run, Lee; run like hell!' When we played baseball. I always loved spending time over at the Johnson's. Your parents were wonderful people. I'm so sorry for your loss.

My sincere sympathy to the Johnson family. When I was living in Carp at the Senior Building, Weldon lived there for many years. He was the nicest, kindest and a good sense of humour. He will be miss. RIP Weldon.
