Wendelin Unser Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 1, 2022.
Wendelin "BUCK" Unser, 82, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his caring wife and 3 children, on February 21, 2022.
He was born on June 2, 1939 to Anna and George Unser in Bismarck, North Dakota. He grew up in North Dakota, where he began working at a young age. As a teenager he worked at the bowling alley setting pins by hand and it was there, his love for bowling began.
At the age of 17, he proudly joined the Navy and served honorably on the USS Okanogan. When he returned home, he soon met the love of his life, Carolita, and got married in 1961. They were blessed with 3 children and celebrated their 61st anniversary in the weeks before his passing. Their love for each other will last an eternity.
Throughout his life, Buck enjoyed a variety of activities, which included fishing, clamming, oystering, hunting, gardening, golfing, going camping and to casinos with life-long friends and family, and most of all bowling. He bowled until he was 80 years old, had two perfect 300 games and maintained a high average. He enjoyed watching many sports, but loved rooting on the Mariners and Seahawks the most. He was a master at creating anything, as he would rather make something himself than buy it. He loved rock painting and making things out of wood and took great pride in the creations he made. Some of which, I'm sure, are in many of your homes and yards. He also was the jack of all trades and would be there in an instant to help anyone that needed it.
Buck was a country boy at heart and enjoyed listening to country music. He attended many concerts throughout the years. His love for country music, carried down to his children and grandchildren.
He worked for Machinist Inc. for 38 years, and was able to retire early. He was blessed to enjoy 24 years of retirement, doing the things he enjoyed, which also included traveling to many places, taking in a few cruises, as well as numerous camping trips. He enjoyed spending time with friends, young and old, telling stories, cracking jokes, laughing and he would never turn down a shot.
He is survived by his wife Carolita, his children Kathy Unser, Jerry Unser (Elisa) and Georgia Unser/Millman (Billy). He was blessed with four grandchildren (Tony, Taylor, Brooke and Shane) and three great-grandchildren (Raiden, Addie and Jaxson). He is also survived by his sister Anna "Dolly" Smith (Gene), sisters-in-law Roberta Unser, Marge Unser, Charlotte Hohbein, Diane Schmidt and brother-in-law Del Rasch (Izzy), along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and his dear Aunt Katie.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Anna & George Unser, his brother Robert Unser and brother-in-law Ronald Hohbein.
Buck will be missed by anyone who had the honor to know him. The memories made with him, will be cherished and will forever warm our hearts and leave a smile on our face.
Enjoy those beautiful sunsets, dad. We miss you and love you very very much.

A private military service will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery.
