Wendell, his two sisters, and his parents are people who go almost as far back in memory as I can recall. We built model cars in his bedroom as elementary students, messed around with the miniature Model T his dad built a little later on, rode motorcycles as teens, and much more. All of my sympathy to his friends and family, I'm sure he will be missed.

As a young little league coach before i even started my own family, Wendell made a great impression on me. He was an engaging all-around great kid who left me dreaming of what it would be like to have a kid just like him. Fortunately, the god lord provided me with just that, and I never forgot that little league player who made such an impression on a young volunteer coach right out of college. RIP. -Randy Guthrie, Savannah, Ga.

Wendell was one my first memories growing up on the west side of Athens. I have fond memories of him and my brother and later on fishing and hiking with him. He was a kind and generous soul and a great friend. One of a kind. "The Bear" will be with me and all who knew him forever.
