I was Werner's environmental lawyer in Massachusetts for Toll Brothers' projects since 1997. He became a close friend and mentor. I wrote to him and called him frequently. I realized something was amiss when my holiday card and note was returned to me yesterday.
He shared his life story many times and I loved hearing his stories with each retelling. I loved his unfiltered opinions of people and places. We cried together over the loss of his granddaughter and his wife Joan. I loved him deeply. We loved to dine together.
Werner, I suspect I will see you soon on the other side. John

Deepest condolences for your loss. Uncle Werner was an icon and leader of the family and someone always ready to lend an ear or a helping hand. We sincerely enjoyed his wisdom and humor and perspectives on life and the world. He will be missed but we are happy that he is now reunited with his beloved wife Joan, and beloved granddaughter Shaelee and others gone too soon. Cheers Werner, you definitely did it your way! Sincerely and with respect, the Other Thiessens!

My deepest sympathies for your loss. I work and at Toll Brothers and although Werner retired before I joined the company, I have heard much about his many contributions in building the company that we have today. Thank you for sharing his incredible story.
