Wesley Jewell Alford
1932-2022
On July 20, 1934, Wesley Jewell Alford was the 11th child born and the youngest boy born of 14 children, to Henry and Ola Alford in Lee County, Texas. Wesley was affectionately called brother by his 13 siblings. Wesley attended elementary school at Post Oak in Lee County, Texas. The family later moved to Wallis, Texas where he completed his high school education, at Austin County High School - Sealy, Texas.
Wesley accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized and became a member at Evergreen Baptist Church in Wallis, Texas. And later joined Trinity Garden Church of Christ under the leadership of the late Minister M.C. Daniels, Sr, where he remained faithful until death under the leadership of Minister Timothy Daniels. After high school, Wesley moved to Houston, Texas where he lived with his cousin, who was like a brother to him, Herman Hatton, and worked as a construction worker.
Wesley met and married his wife, Dorothy Loville Alford in 1958, and to this union one daughter, Cassandra Alford Hamilton was born. Wesley was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was dependable, strong, intelligent, and an excellent provider for his family.
Wesley worked as a CDL, Truck Driver for Polar Ice Cream and Ashland Chemical where he retired in 2000. After retirement. Wesley returned to work as a security guard and a CDL Truck Driver at the Port of Houston until 2008. After retirement, Wesley loved fishing, watching sports, helping out at the church pantry, and spending quality time with family and friends.
On September 11, 2022, our beloved Dad and grandfather transitioned to eternal rest with the Lord, where he is now reunited with his wife, mother, father, and 13 siblings. Preceding him in death, are his wife Dorothy Alford his father, Henry Alford, mother, Ola Alford, brothers, John Henry Alford, Sr., Jessie Alford, Clint Alford, Harvey Alford, Earl Alford, and Ernest Alford. sisters Essie Harge, Annie Mae Colvin, Clara Bedford, Eula Lewis, Asa Fay Woods, Minnie Ree Hatcher, and Grace Bridges.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter, Cassandra Alford Hamilton, granddaughter, Tia Breanna Green, grandsons, Gavin Hamilton, Grayson Hamilton, and great-grandson, Casen Green. Sister, Valleda Crump of Houston, Texas, Good friend for many years RD Steptoe. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022, with viewing starting at 10 am followed by an 11 am funeral service, at Trinity Gardens Church of Christ located on 7725 Homestead Rd, Houston, Texas 77016
Officiating: Minister Timothy Daniels
Interment will take place at Golden Gate Cemetery.
