Wonderful character of Wes will ever stay in my life as he touches many people's harts with his sensitive music , generous in sharing his happiness and lifting better hope to the under stressed social rights.

I was a
friend since the Library Days; it was always wonderful to have a conversation with him about politics, music, et al; admired his character, his strength and courage; I was lucky to know him. Wish I had seen him one last time. My condolences to his children.

I enjoyed your spirit on and off stage during the 7Os.Was good to see you at the Jazz Festival last sept. after nearly 40 years.You qualify for that big band up above.

I remember Wes fondly, working many years with him, in the Robarts Library.
He was always kind, and with a great sense of humor. Rest in peace good man. I will miss you.

Often met Jaribu in Kensington Market. A couple of years ago he gave me a whole talk on Black contribution to Toronto and the Black culture of Chicago. Our incidental meetings were always jam packed with information. Rest In Peace Jaribu!

Jaribu had a good heart and had a genuine interest in music, social, and political issues. We spent many hours together for over 20 years and had many interesting conversations. I will miss him.

Brother Jaribu was a wonderful musician and a kind, gentle human being. He was a man of the people with a deep understanding of the relationship between popular culture, solidarity and social change. I learned a lot from him during the short time we played together.

I had always been moved by Jaribu's engaging smile when ever he entered a room. He beemed life! Peace on your journey Jaribu! We will miss you man!

Great souls are seldom being recognized or valued. Jaribu, my brother, friend and colleague, you've been one of them. You presence have been recognized and felt by me, and your mark have been made for all to see.
Travel peacefully and travel smooth my friend. You have now joined the ancestors as a new "guardian of our future".

Jaribu's passing is a great loss.He was such a reassuring presence in our community. He will remain with fond memories.
