I met Commander Ruth when I drove he and my Dad to an American Legion meeting in Matthews where he was the guest speaker. (My Dad was also in the Navy.) I was so impressed with his ability to convey what it was like during the Pearl Harbor attack. We took him back to his room afterwards and stayed a little while as he showed us his pictures of family. We were going to have lunch with him one day after that meeting and I just now found his phone number in my wallet. We never got around to having lunch because shortly afterwards I lost my Dad and was then consumed with caring for my mother, which I still am. Even though we met for a short period of time, I will never the impact that short visit with him had on me. What a wonderful man and spirit. I know that he and my Dad are getting more acquainted and sharing Navy and war stories. RIP Commander Ruth.

I will miss him so much. He took over parental responsibilities for the Hampton family. I know the family in heaven welcomes him and those left behind will pray and feel bless that he touched us all. All my Love, Deb and Miles Scheid

Tucker,
What an example of faith and service to his country your father provides. We can see why his life has been such a source of strength and pride for you and your family. You were very blessed to have had him with you for so long. And you and your family, sons and their families, have been a source of blessings and consolation for him as well. You are in our prayers,
Mike and Mary Jane Regan
