WESTON MINTER Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 20, 2017.
MINTER
WESTON H.
Passed suddenly on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, of Robinson Twp., age 63. Wes lived his professional life in two very different industries over the course of his career, often working in both at the same time. A highly accomplished corporate sales executive, Wes most recently worked for Waste Management. He most loved his work behind the microphone as a talk show host who evoked emotion in the hearts and minds of those who listened to him on radio stations WSB-Atlanta, WCCO- Minneapolis, WHIO-Dayton, KRMG-Tulsa, and KDKA- Pittsburgh over the years. A patriotic man, Wes wanted the world to be a better place, and he used the power of a microphone to do his part in making that happen. He cared deeply about the communities he lived in and even more in those who he trusted as a personal friend. Private about his personal life for most of his life, Wes met Jamie Rowe in 2003 and they wed in 2014. Beloved husband of Jamie M. Rowe; son of Audrey Rice and the late Robert Lee Rice; and also his birth father, the late Howard Minter; brother of Kenneth D. Rice and Linda G. Minter; uncle of Jennifer English and Kory Rice. Friends received Friday 4-7 p.m. at the JOSEPH M. SOMMA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 5405 Steubenville Pike, Moon Run, Robinson Twp. Family and friends will gather on Saturday at 10:45 a.m. for an 11 a.m. funeral service at Ken Mawr United Presbyterian Church, Kennedy Twp. Memorial contributions in honor of Wes to Children's Hospital of Pgh., 4401 Penn Ave., Pgh., PA 15224 or Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.

Wes's kind encouragement led me to a radio career during high school in NW Iowa. Tom Garasha "introduced" us. It set me on a path to achieve things I never dreamed of. Ironically, I've lived in Des Moines since 1983!

I am so sorry to hear he's passed. I never met him in person, yet he had a huge impact on my life.

Weston H. ,
Rest in peace our friend, it has been a short 30 + years. You have left us much too soon with so many more things for you to accomplish and enjoy. We are extremely grateful to have known you and may God bless you and your family.

I have been providing "pooper scooper" services for Wes and Jamie for the last two years but I never had the opportunity to meet Wes but spoke to him on the phone, he was always so kind and polite. I greatly appreciated his compliments on the service that my son Matt provides. It was a great shock to my son to learn of Wes's passing when he came to do the service today. Matt did have the opportunity to meet Wes and said that he was always very nice. Matt recalled speaking to Wes last Saturday when he came to do the service.

You have our deepest sympathy.

Wes, you were such a kind and loving brother. You were my rock! Our family is going to miss you so very much. You were taken way too soon. The only comfort is in knowing we'll all be together again in Heaven someday. Love, Lin

I was Wes' producer at WCCO-Minneapolis, before he left the station. The Minnesta-nice listeners never appreciated his quick wit and sharp mind, mainly because of the conservative views he expressed. He was quite a showman. That's what he would say to me during the show..."I'm an entertainer." And he truly was. He will be missed.
