Wilbert S. Roach

Wilbert Samuel Roach, 84, of Stanardsville, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2009, at his residence.

He was born December 26, 1924 in Greene County, the son of the late William Luther Roach and Mary Ann Roach.

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Theodore Roach; three sisters, Charlotte Shifflett, Ruth Knight and Margorie Roach.

Wilbert is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ruby Roach; two sons, Fred Roach and his wife, Wanda, of Ruckersville, and Gary Roach and his wife, Wanda, of Barboursville; one brother, Leroy Roach; one sister, Isabell Morris; three grandchildren, Gary, Larry and Lisa; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Breanna; a special nephew, Leabert Wayne Deane; and a host of nieces and nephews; many friends and good neighbors.

Will be missed by all!

Wilbert retired from Badger Fire Extinguisher after 18 years of service. He also was employed for a number of years at Crouse Hinds and was employed at Frank Ix for 23 years. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army after three years of service.

His funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Ryan Funeral Home conducted by the Reverend Eddie Dean. Interment will follow at the Holly Memorial Gardens cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2009, at the funeral home.

Ryan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
