Dr. Wilbur H. Lewis

A loss to all who knew and loved Will. He was a kind and gentle man who made my life better for knowing him. We shared laughter, some of the same sorrows and Military Mc Caw Stories. I will miss him. God Bless the family and guide them in this time of sorrow.

What I remember is the love and respect he and Jean had for each other and how much they loved their children. That love carried over into both of their teaching careers. My mom thought the world of them. We were blessed to have known all of you and this very special man. The last time I spoke with your dad was at the 5oth anniv. of the Union Local High School and it was amazing to see all the people come up to him that remembered him and had such kind words to say. He loved every minute of it.

To one of the greatest men that ever lived. I don't even think there are enough words that could describe Wilbur. So thankful that we have all the childhood memories of your whole family and you all will be in my prayers. Cannot wait to see you all...

I came to know Mr Lewis because I was friends with his son Darrin. I wish I had taken the time to get to know him better when I was 15-17 years old, because I surely enjoyed his company when I was in my early to mid 30's. He had the qualities that every man wishes for his own children. He was Genuine, generous, funny and wise. I am not sure how old Mr. Lewis was, but when we shared a beer and conversation I always felt like he was my friend and not the father of my friend. It seems that many times people in the academic world having difficulty relating to those who are not. Mr Lewis never had such a problem and he will be missed by us "simple folks". Thank You Mr. Lewis!!

Will was a consummate professional that made decisions based on what was in the best interest of students. I learned a lot from Will. He will be missed.

I was blessed to work for Will when I was a teacher in Parma, Ohio. And then with his assistance and guidance, I was able to work for this fine superintendent when he came to Tucson. My family and I have always been grateful. Heartfelt sympathy to Jean and family. With loving prayers always.

Will was friendly and thoughtful. We will miss him and the delightful conversations we had by our driveways. He rests now in God's loving arms. Our condolonces to Jean and family.

It has taken a few days to write about Wilbur. He was my cousin who visited us at our Ohio river lot. We played table games,relaxed,drank a beer, went to the POP's and reminisced about our growing up as we were like brothers. I will miss him and the weekly phone calls. Will was a kind soul with a wonderful sense of humor. I always looked forward to his visits to PDSD.

I remember Dr. Lewis as a kind, sincere and professional Superintendent. I enjoyed his sense of humor.

Will was a good friend, colleague and mentor. Our time working together was too short but the best period of my career. I always looked forward to the many breakfasts and lunches in recent years. My condolences to Jean and family. Will, rest in peace.

Will was a caring, disciplined and dedicated boss, mentor and friend at ASDB. He will be missed. He taught me a lot and will be remembered for all that he did for kids, family and friends.

I had the good fortune to work with Wil at ASDB. He was an honorable and dedicated leader, an astute individual who had his priorities straight. I will miss him.

Wil was a gentle and caring man, a fine superintendent who always put the children first when making difficult decisions, and a good friend. By his presence and his deeds, he has left the world a better place. I shall miss him.

I am saddened with the passing of Wil. I was not a personal friend but a professional colleague. Wil helped me in my career and I am very greatful for his mentoring and assistance. Blessing to his family at their loss of Will. Lyman Jackson, former Supt. of Altar Valley Sch. Dist.

It was a pleasure to meet Wil when he was working with Congress School District to help them with building their school, with their community relations, and with their needing to push the School Facilities Board to actually build the school. The Congess school has the imprint of Wil's thoughtful design ideas and his
being sure that it would be a facility the communitiy wouild be proud of. Wil has indeed left a fine legacy in the Congress District, and it was a pleasure and honor to know him as a person as well.
