Wilford (Bill) Page Twyman Jr.

October 20, 1934 - March 14, 2025 (age 90)

Wilford (Bill) Page Twyman Jr. of Denver, Colorado, passed away peacefully at The Denver Hospice on March 14, 2025 accompanied by his children Russell Twyman and Sandra Mueninghoff.

Bill was born in Montclair, NJ to Wilford Page and Margaret (Chambers Oliphant) Twyman Sr. He lost his mother to cancer when he was 11. His father was married again, when Bill was 13, to Karolina Suzanna Wiser. Bill graduated high school in Mountainside, NJ where he met his first wife Judith Thompson. Bill joined the army and was part of the parachute division stationed in Alaska. Both Bill and Judy attended the University of Maine and married in 1959. Bill majored in Animal Husbandry. He went on to work for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service raising fish, first in Chittenden, Vermont where Russell was born, second in Nashua, New Hampshire where Sandra was born, third in North Attleboro, Massachusetts (for 11 years), and finally in Charles City, Virginia (for 14 years). Bill and Judy were divorced in 1965 and Bill remarried Marjorie Clorenthe Whalen in 1970, who had two children from a previous marriage, Michael and Darlene. Bill moved to Denver in 2016 to live with his son, Russ.

Bill was an avid dog lover all his life and was known to always have dog biscuits with him to give away. He brought joy to so many dogs and their people, and is somewhat of a celebrity at City Park where he took his daily walks. He is known for his kindness, sense of humor, and his love of nature, camping, and, of course, dogs.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margie, his brother, Bob, and his son in law Rodney Hobson. He is survived by his first wife, Judith Scanlan, his brothers Tom and Ched, his children Russ and Sandra, his stepchildren Darlene Hobson and Michael Desjardin, his daughter in law Ellie Desjardin, his grandchildren Brett Hobson, and Aaron and Alex Mueninghoff.

A Celebration of Life was held in Denver on Friday March 14, 2025,

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday April 19, 2025 (Easter weekend) at 4pm (Eastern Time) at the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood, 113 Cottage Place, Ridgewood, NJ, with a dinner reception following at the same location.
