Reverend Wilfred T. Smith

I think of you often and of how much you helped me. You were not only my Pastor while at St. Mary of the Assumption Church ... you were my friend. I will never forget you.

I just found out about Father's passing. I was a member of the parish from 1984 to 1994. My memory of Fr. Smith was his helping me thru some tough times in the early 90"s. After I moved, I lost contact with him He was a very loving person, and I've never forgotten him.May you rest in peace, and that the Lord will hold you in the palm of his hand.

I'm here at Jennings nursing home to say Hi, on Jan 17, 2017 - Like I did last June.

I now know you're in a better place!

Until we meet again, so long for now ...

You could not help but love Fr. Smith. Children in droves would flock to him in the vestibule after Mass and just cling to his vestments. When he greeted you, no matter how many times he said, " Good morning, glory", you loved hearing it. It lifted your spirits immediately. He had a way of giving you his undivided attention any time you talked with him. And the next person got the same undivided attention. He was, indeed, lavish in his attention, generosity, and guidance.. so full of common sense. But most of all, I remember before and after every Mass , even daily Masses, Fr. would kneel down on the altar server kneelers, hand to his chin , gaze at the tabernacle and pray.. for a long time.. He never broke that habit.. He was a model of prayer. How he will be missed.

Heartfelt condolences to Fr. Wilf`s nieces,nephews and families.
May all the years of warm and wonderful memories he leaves all of you bring comfort and smiles during this difficult time

Not only did he marry and bury our family/friends but was also a dear friend to all..He will truly be missed.

Rest in Peace Fr. and again enjoy your nickle and dime card betting games and your miniature train set up 24/7...

Father Smith was a "spiritual joy" to
work with in our early days at Saint Robert
Bellarmine.

He provided encouragement as we formed the Bellarmine Chorale and moved through the
enormous possibilities of Vatican II.

May the Choirs of Angels greet him!
