William R. Ace

William R. Ace, 96, of Hellertown, died Sunday morning, December 9, 2018, while under hospice care at Saucon Valley Manor in Hellertown where he was a resident for the past seven years. He was the husband of the late Hazel M. (Williams) Ace with whom he shared 66 years of marriage at the time of her death on October 17, 2008. Born on April 19, 1922 in Lehighton, he was one of nine children to the late J. Archibald "Archie" and Anna (Shook) Ace. He has lived in Hellertown since 1971 and was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Navy. Bill worked at Bethlehem Steel as a millwright until retiring in 1983. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hellertown and the Bethlehem Lodge #283 F&AM. Surviving are a daughter, Dyvonne Nevil and husband Edward of Bethlehem; granddaughter, Kimmie Edgington and husband Jeremy of Alamogordo, NM; great-grandson, Jason Edgington of Alamogordo, NM; brother, James Ace and wife Marion of Stroudsburg; three sisters, Margaret Werkheiser of Stroudsburg, Jane Anna Meckes of Stroudsburg and Anita Foucke of East Stroudsburg; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four siblings, Adalyn Harps Transue, Marion Kirkhuff Hunt, Robert Ace and Helen Smith. Services will be held on Thursday, December 13, from the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg; with viewing beginning at 10:00AM followed by the funeral service at 11:00AM with Rev. Phillip Spohn officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Hamilton Township.
