William Angle Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 22, 2023.
William Hinson (Bill) Angle, age 73, left this world on July 16th, 2023 at Shands Hospital, following an extended illness. Bill was born on January 2nd, 1950 in Gainesville, Florida. He was preceded in death by his father, O. J. (Pete) Angle, and his mother, Jewel Frances Angle. He is survived by his sister, Sue Bowman of Fort Worth, Texas, and his brother, Joe of Hawthorne, Florida, and several nieces and nephews.

Bill was a lifelong resident of Gainesville, attended Gainesville High School, and he served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam war era. Bill worked for many years for Boone Welding, Gainesville, Florida, in heavy equipment radiator repair, and as an automotive machinist. He was a skilled machinist who built and repaired automotive parts and accessories, and could bring new life into any old engine or piece of machinery.

Bill had a natural talent for carpentry and as a hobby, enjoyed creating many interesting items as well as restoring old furniture.

Also an accomplished, self taught musician, Bill loved playing the guitar and the banjo, and frequently jammed with his friends late into the night. He rarely entertained for his family, but on the few occasions he did, all were amazed at his mastery. Bill enjoyed the outdoors, was a crack wing-shot, and especially had a passion for saltwater fishing.

Bill was much loved and appreciated by his family, and will be greatly missed. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

I had the honor of meeting and getting to know Bill during the eight or so years I had working with his brother, Joe. Bill was one of the friendliest people I´ve met, and was well known for his intelligence and the many tips he passed along to someone that was beginning a career in which he himself was familiar with. Bill was full of surprises and constantly revealed things about himself that made me admire him even more. I´m sad to hear news of his passing, but will always remember the good memories I had with him and his family. Goodbye my friend
