William Baldauf Obituary

ALTAMONT William Baldauf, 81, died Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. Bill was born in Chicago, Ill. and moved to the Capital District in 1951. He was a graduate of Kalamazoo College in Michigan and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a naval photographer aboard the U.S.S. Bennington Aircraft Carrier. He worked as a research chemist for Behr-Manning Corporation, Schenectady Army Depot and the Watervliet Arsenal from 1951 until his retirement in 1986. He was president of the C.A.M.E.R.A. Club for many years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Altamont, served on its church council and participated in Men's Breakfast for over 25 years. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Pat Baldauf; four children, Bonnie Snyder and her husband Dr. Robert Evans of Longwood, Fla., Richard Baldauf and his wife Ruth Koger of Taos, N.M., Timm Baldauf and his wife, Lynne of Berne and Dr. Robert Baldauf and his wife, Jane of Schenectady; eight grandchildren, Marcia and Alyssa Snyder, Shaun, Justin and Devon Baldauf, Christopher, Brynna and Geneva Baldauf. A memorial service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Altamont in mid-July. Those who wish may make contributions, in Bill's memory, to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.
