William Ballantine Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 3, 2025.
William F. Ballantine, Jr., age 71, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025, in Cape May Courthouse, New Jersey.

Bill was the beloved husband of Rachelle (Rae) Ballantine (née Guidetti) for 52 years. He was the devoted father of Karla Modres (Randy), William Ballantine, and Lauren Chrupcala (Joseph). He was a cherished grandfather to Sean, Matthew, Nicholas, Joseph, and Delaney.

Bill is also survived by his mother Catherine Ballantine; his sister Diane Toner (John); and many extended family members and friends who will remember him with great affection.

He was preceded in death by his father William Sr, and his brother Michael.

Born on March 5, 1954, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Bill was raised in the Roxborough section of the city. He attended St. John the Baptist in Manayunk and went on to graduate from Roman Catholic High School, where he remained a proud Purple and Gold alumnus throughout his life.

Bill dedicated over three decades of his professional life to Verizon, where he built a respected career. After retiring from Verizon, he embarked on a second chapter at Project Transition. There, for 15 years, he became an admired and revered colleague whose compassion and dedication touched many lives.

In retirement, Bill fulfilled a lifelong dream of living down the Jersey shore. He found happiness in simple pleasures-basking in the sun, strolling along the Wildwood boardwalk, and enjoying a slice of Mack's pizza. A passionate Philadelphia Eagles fan through and through, Bill proudly embraced his role as the quintessential "Monday Morning Quarterback."

The most important things in Bill's world were always clear: his wife Rae, their children, and their grandchildren. His love for them was unwavering and deeply felt.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary (in the Chapel), 819 Cathedral Road, Philadelphia, PA 19128, followed by a prayer service at 11:00am.

Friends are invited to attend wearing Philadelphia Eagles attire if they wish-a fitting tribute to a man who lived with heart and loyalty. Never one for formal attire, Bill would surely smile knowing that Eagles gear is welcome in his honor.

Internment private.

Billy was a good guy. I knew him since he was born. I would often see him at our Aunt Annie's house on Osborn Street in Wissahickon. He did a lot of good during his life, and he left the world a better place because of his efforts. RIP.

My deepest condolences to the family. The short period that I was able to interact with Bill at PCS gave me the opportunity to experience how phenomenal of a person he was and his care and kindness was immeasurable. Praying for your peace and comfort during this difficult time.
