I was quite surprised to learn of Bill Barry's death today. My deepest sympathies to his family. For many years I worked as a writer for various newspapers in SW Sask. I used Bill's books on a near daily basis. I also helped Bill with his second book, and in uncovering a few place names in this area. May God keep his soul.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Bill's passing, and extend heartfelt condolences to his family. Bill was our classmate at RMC (Class of '63). His sense of humour, infinite tolerance and enduring spirit inspired all of us who underwent the rigours of recruiting with him. These qualities, undiminished in later years, and his deep affection for all his family are our happy memories of this remarkable man.

To the Barry family. Bill Barry was one of the most interesting persons I have ever met and known - as a friend, an historian and a political pundit.

Bill was also one of the most popular guests on my spoken word program Listen Up at Regina community radio, making several memorable appearances on my show. Bill had such an innate ability to deliver his stories in a homespun manner, as if he were having a personal chat with each listener.

His books were priceless!

Bill's efforts to chronicle our war dead in his books and the SVWM were a very important public service and remain his lasting legacy to our province.

Bill Barry was a great ambassador of Saskatchewan and a great Canadian. They should name a place after him!

Our deepest sympathy

Bill has left a great legacy with his books and establishment of the Saskatchewan War Memorial. We will miss him, but take comfort in knowing that he is in good hands.

My deepest sympathies to Bill's family. I still remember his kindness to me, a lowly ninth grader, when he as a high school senior starring in our school play "Good Bye to the Clown".

Marlene and I would like extend our outmost sympathies to Bills family. I had gotten to know Bill when he released his second book a number years ago. Since then we became good friends as a stamp collector and also very interested in the history of Saskatchewan names and the post marks of post offices, it was only natural that we did have a common bond and interest. I was pleased when Bill had told me that he had donated his postmarks of Sask to the archives of Saskatchewan for all to see. Every time I came to Regina I would try to call in him pick up more of his books and usually we had a great visit as well. It was a honour to meet and have known Bill in the last twenty years and I will miss him. Again to Bills family our thoughts are with you during this time of this remarkable person. Bill Barry was a good man. So sad to learn of his passing.
He had a passion for history and the documentation of detail.
So much of his worthwhile research efforts will be forever entrentched as a part of our Saskatchewan heritage legacy.

I always enjoyed his radio sessions and sense of curiosity and humour. Another good man gone too soon.
