Beard, Lt. Col. William Franklin "Bill" – age 86, of Knoxville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 5, 2011. He was a long-time member and deacon at Lincoln Park Baptist Church of Knoxville, a veteran of the Army Air Corp during WWII and retired from the Tennessee Air National Guard, 134th Air Refueling Group. Preceded in death by his parents Clyde Jennings Beard and Atha Turner Beard; brothers C.J. Beard, Jr. and Turner Beard. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Bernice Beard; daughter Pamela Goode, son and daughter-in-law, Dexter and Renee' Beard. He is also survived by grandchildren, Marcie Harrison and husband Scott; Nikki Johnson and husband Darrell; Scott Beard and wife Jennifer; Megan Parrott and husband Kevin; great granddaughters, Ashton Harrison and Brittany Collins; great grandsons, Dalton Harrison and Aiden Beard. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 9, from 12:00 to 1:30 PM at Lincoln Park Baptist Church, 830 Chickamauga Avenue, Knoxville, TN. Funeral services to follow at 1:30 PM with Pastor John Holland officiating. Following the service there will be a private interment at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Arrangements provided by Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at North Broadway
