William (Bill) Bjerke Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 13, 2024.
Bill Bjerke died suddenly at his home on December 11, 2024, a month shy of his 80th birthday. He is preceded in death by his parents EJ and Dolores and sisters Mary and Cece Moynagh. Bill is survived by his loving wife and soulmate Laura, children Bill (Kara), Chad (Gabby), Krisi (Bry) Berg, Kori (Jim) Dlugosch, Christopher (Olivia) and Michael (Tracy), his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and brothers John (Anna), Tom (Bonnie), Joe (Dar), Paul (Rosalie), Pete (Mena), Jim (Sue) and sisters Sam (Gary) Holst and Elizabeth (Charles) Benson, and many nieces and nephews. Also survived by Laura's daughters Sadie and Meghan and grandson Potter.

Bill was born on January 13, 1945. He was the oldest of 11 children and grew up in the Minneapolis area. He was a proud graduate of the University of Minnesota. After Bill and Laura married in 2005, they lived in Minnetonka before retiring on the lake in Osakis where they spent several years golfing, fishing, enjoying sunsets and bonfires, and many special visits from family and friends. Bill and Laura also enjoyed going out, whether it was to cheer for the Vikings or a night of dinner and dancing. People often said of Bill and Laura that it was clear how much they adored each other and what a special relationship they had. Bill also loved landscaping, chatting with strangers, and especially playing pickleball, which he excelled at.

Bill was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He cherished spending time with his family and many friends. He will be so deeply missed.

Following Bill's wishes, his body was donated to the University of Minnesota as a contribution to the field of medicine.

A memorial celebration will be held at a later date.
