William "Bill" H. Lubben, a beloved Lutheran School principal and teacher in numerous church congregations, as well as a dedicated Music Director and organist, has passed away at the age of 76. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and the countless lives he touched throughout his lifetime.

Born on October 8, 1947, in Farmersville, Illinois to Robert and Helma Lubben, Bill's passion for education and music became evident from a young age. He pursued higher education and earned a Master's of Education and Church Music from River Forest Concordia Teachers College in 1969.

Bill's career was devoted to shaping young minds and nurturing the spiritual growth of his students. He served as a principal and teacher in various church congregations across several states including Wisconsin, Kansas, Illinois, Florida, Michigan, and Missouri. His dedication to providing quality education and fostering an environment that encouraged faith development was truly commendable.

Not only did Bill excel in his professional life but he also actively engaged in various hobbies and interests that brought him immense joy. Fishing and birding allowed him to connect with nature while traveling and RVing allowed him to explore different parts of the world. As a devoted fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team, he passionately followed their games. Bill also found fulfillment in volunteering his time for worthy causes such as serving as a host family for many foreign exchange students.

Bill's commitment extended beyond his immediate community as he served as a recent Board Member of Los Fresnos CDC (Community Development Corporation). Additionally, he devoted his time as a volunteer at the Palo Alto Battlefield and Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge. His involvement with Earth Day City of Los Fresnos showcased his deep concern for environmental conservation. Furthermore, within his church groups and schools, he served as an active leader who inspired others with his unwavering faith.

On October 21, 2023, Bill peacefully passed away at his residence in Los Fresnos, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. His legacy of kindness, compassion, and dedication to education and music will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Bill's proudest accomplishments were not only confined to his professional life but extended to the love and care he shared with his family. He was preceded in death by his late wife Jo Ann Elmore Lubben. He is survived by his devoted wife Judy Lubben, who stood by his side throughout their journey together.

Bill will be lovingly remembered by his son Robert (Krissa) Lubben of Edwardsville IL, daughter Sarah (Mike) Makuta of Morton IL, stepdaughter Jackie Delling of Manchester MO, stepdaughter Jessica (Matt) Fleshman of Fenton MO, grandchildren Meagan & Madison Makuta, grandchildren Jack, Daniel & Molly Polys, and grandchildren: LCpl John Delling U.S. Marine Corp, Parker, Ella, and Max Fleshman . He is also survived by his sister Debby (Denny) Yard, sister-in-law Kathy Elmore, sister-in-law Peggy (Greg) Hampton, brother-in-law Ken (Cheri) Elmore, brother-in-law Mark Michael (Cindy Smith), numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A visitation will be held in Bill's honor on October 27th, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Los Fresnos Funeral Home located at 1005 S. Arroyo Blvd., Los Fresnos. A Memorial Service will follow on October 28th at 10:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church situated at 602 Morgan Blvd in Harlingen TX. A meal at the church will follow after the Memorial Service.

William "Bill" H. Lubben's life serves as an example of dedication and commitment towards education and nurturing spiritual growth within communities. His passion for music, love for his family, and selfless service to others will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him. May he rest in eternal peace.
