William “Bill” "Lumpy" Yoder Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 30, 2024.
William C. "Bill" "Lumpy" Yoder, 72, of Claysburg, formerly of Hollsopple (Blough), passed away Tuesday May 28, 2024, at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center. He was born December 28, 1951, in Johnstown, son of the late William E. and Viola M. (Gindlesperger) Yoder.

Surviving are two sons Joshua A. Yoder and wife Brianna of Ebensburg and Jacob N. Yoder and wife Penny of Claysburg, six grandchildren Landon, Blake, Mason, Kyler, Heaven and Haley, and siblings Linda, Randy, and Jeff Yoder, married to the former Janet Mangus of Hooversville.

Bill was a 1969 graduate of Forbes High School. He was dedicated to his craft as a railroad car builder. He retired as a supervisor in 2003 from Freightcar America, Inc., previously Johnstown America Corp. and Bethlehem Steel, after 34 years of service.

Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, flowers, cooking, and spending time with his family, especially the grandkids. He always made sure after visiting with his grandkids that they had a bag of candy, pop-tarts, and a few dollars from their pap when they left. Bill enjoyed family picnics and always looked forward to making ribs for the annual family 4th of July party. Bill was a proud and engaged father having raised his sons as a single father and making sure they were prepared to raise families of their own and take on anything that life threw at them. Bill was a friend to many and enjoyed getting to know new people. Bill had a knack for being able to talk with anyone. He was a dedicated democrat and enjoyed debating his sons on varying political views.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be given to The Myositis Association, 6950 Columbia Gateway Drive, Suite 370, Columbia, MD 21046.
