As a lifelong writer and lover of lyrical, moving stories, I can say that Dimiter is the finest novel I have ever read. I was made silent by its beauty. Thank you, Mr. Blatty. I dream of writing like that someday.

Mr. Blatty's THE NINTH CONFIGURATION ("Twinkle Twinkle Killer Kane") was a huge influence on my own tv and writing work. He wrote modern day masterpieces and was a profound director. My deepest condolences to his son, Billy, who once shared insights with me about this remarkable dad.

William Blatty's signal achievement was to make religion real. What he wrote has impacted the whole world. He has certainly earned his place in heaven.

At the other end of the spectrum, "The Pink Panther" movies were among the funniest films of all time! Mr. Blatty was pure genius without a doubt. May he rest in eternal peace and may the perpetual light shine upon him.

At the age of 26 I was scared to death by his movie. Never to be forgotten1 A great sense of humor, too, but not the movie!

I celebrate the gift of Mr. Blatty's great writing and American spirit. He was a true inspiration for my generation.

I read the Exorcist nonstop for two days when I was thirteen years old. I later saw the movie. These experiences were a big deal to me at that age.
