Shirl and family,
So sorry to hear your family has suffered another tragic loss. There are no words that will make it all better, losing a loved one is hard, but cherish the wonderful memories you have of times together. Take comfort in knowing that so many love you and will keep you in their thoughts and prayers.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of Billy's father. He was always cheerful and quick to greet the customer with a smile. It is hard to imagine The Village Market without three generations of Bloethes working beside each other. With Sympathy,

Oh how very sad we are, Bill for you, your family and mother. He was just so very special. He had such plans for the winter with his cruise around So America. I said goodbye over labor day but never did I think this would be the last time I saw him. We are shocked and send our deepest sympathies to you.

Dear Ruth and family, I'm so sorry about Bill's passing. Working for him at the East Side was quite an experience with lots of happy memories and some hectic ones too (especially on Saturday nights). It always amazed me that all six members of the Bloethe family worked together successfully under one roof. Definitely a tribute to both yours and Bill's leadership. My thoughts and prayers are with you. God bless.

I am so sorry for your loss. My dad (Tommy Barry)worked at the East Side in the 60's and early 70's, and I have great memories of going in there as a child, and both Bill and his staff were always so kind to both my dad and me. He was such a nice man, always had a smile. May God bless.

Oh you guys I LOVED him!! Such a sweet man! Always friendly, fun, sweet....I looked forward to seeing him when I went to the store. I'm so going to miss him.

And Bill, I lost my dad four years ago - it's SO hard, and I'm so sorry you lost yours now. It took me a good year to feel...normal? Again. Be gentle on yourself. What's nice is that you'll see him everywhere - he was so a part of this place. It's nice being reminded of someone we care about.

Much love to you all,
Gigi

I had the privilege of working for Bill and Ruth for many years. They defined the term: "family restaurant". I honestly can't remember ever stepping in the building without Bill being there. He was one of the hardest working men I've ever known. He and Mark were like a well-oiled machine in that kitchen, through quiet or chaos, even a couple of memorable power outages! On Sunday mornings when we were setting up it was very much "the calm after the storm" of our busy Saturday nights. It provided a chance for us to discuss our shared love of old movies. He was a fan of James Mason, I think because of his incredible diction. Something about Bill's being fluent in both languages gave him an appreciation of words...and, okay, some 'interesting' rhymes. I was grateful to have been able to serve at his (I believe) 70th birthday, surrounded by his kids and grand-kids. I don't think I'd ever seen him happier. (One Oktoberfest at Quassy, herding his clan onto the ferry came close!) It wasn't until Wally messaged me about Bill's passing, that I learned of Brian and Charleen's recent loss, and my heart just broke for all of you, facing this while still in shock over Colter. You are all in my prayers. Love, Beth
