William Borkan Obituary
He was most proud, however, of his family. He was a loving husband to the love of his life, his wife of over 33 years, Vivienne. He was also a wonderful father to their children, Kenny and Marty, and a beloved brother to his siblings Ted, Burt and Jennie.
Funeral Services will be Monday, September 23 at noon at Riverside-Gordon Aventura, 20599 Biscayne Boulevard, 33180, with interment to follow at Lakeside Memorial Park, 10301 NW 25th Street, Miami, FL 33172.

Joch and I met Bill about 14 years ago at a wine dinner in Adelaide, South Australia. He was there on his own, his love of wine bringing him there. We had a terrific time, and invited him to our wine region's (McLaren Vale) annual lunch. He was such a entertaining and sociable man,nwhi go to know a lot of people locally. We saw him every other year after that. He saw our kids as they came onto the scene, and he and Vivienne always bought them gorgeous gifts from wherever they had traveled before coming to McLaren Vale. My girls (6 and 8) wore some of Bill's presents the other night and we talked so fondly of Bill. We will miss his trips 'down under ' and hope that Vivienne comes to visit us when she feels she can. Bill was one of those people - incredibly friendly, generous, entertaining and worldy. He made you feel human and connected and relevant and pleased to be alive. We are so sorry for Vivienne and Marty and Kenny's loss. We feel it too and we only knew him for a short while. Bill you were the bees knees and we will raise a glass of great red wine to you every year to remember you and celebrate your life. Lots of love Joch Bosworth and Louise Hemsley-Smith xxxxxx

I would like to echo Tim's message. Tim and I were hired by Bill within a month of each other and we developed some innonvative technology while with Neuromed. His legacy in spinal cord stimulation lives on, as the 8 electrode Octrode is still a top selling product. Tim and I are both with St. Jude Medical now, which has taken Bill's innovative technology to new levels. Tim and I have great memories of working with Bill and all of the Borkan Family. My deepest condolances to you all, and be assurred, Bill's legacy lives on.

I am saddened by Bill's untimely death. I was hired by Bill in 1984 as an Electrical Engineer at Neuromed. I worked there until 1987. It was an exciting company and Bill was inspirational as the dynamic young CEO. My condolences to the entire Borkan family.

My deepest condolences to to Vivienne, Bill's sons, Ted, Burt and Jenny. I had the pleasure of meeting bill and some of his family members including Annabel when I worked with him in my stock market days, with Carl J. Regan. He was a superb human being, always looking for ways to further advance with many health issues persons might encounter. He would always find time to talk about fishing with me, as it is one of my favorite hobbies. This kind and gentle man will be greatly missed.

Bill, or Billy as I used to know him, was one of the finest human beings I have ever had the honor of knowing. I knew him from early childhood, although I lost touch with him after tenth grade when I went away to private school. I am glad I had the opportunity to see him and Vivienne once more about 10 years ago at David Chesky's New Year's party. In elementary school, we were both in the science club which met at his house. We were also Cub Scouts together. When we were all in kindergarten with Mrs. Bernstein, the class went on a field trip one day to his father's ceramic factory. Everyone in the class was given a little ceramic dish with a gold decal emblazoned on it as a souvenir. I still have that dish to this very day. Rest in peace, old friend.

I was fortunate enough to spend many days fishing with Bill. We shared some really exciting moments on the water. His passion and love for fishing could be surpassed by no other. No matter how good or bad the fishing day was he was always happy just to be out there. I have so many great memories that I will keep with me forever! He was such a good man in so many ways! You will be missed Bill!

Bill and I worked together on some social media events for the Shops at Mauna Lani in Hawaii. He was so encouraging and funny. He and I shook hands on putting together a wine and chocolate pairing that I held last Spring, and although he did not get to attend, his spirit was there. He loved his life in Hawaii and enjoyed the Talk Story events at Mauna Lani, as well-that was the last time I saw him. Deeply saddened to lose a community leader and a very genuine and caring man. Condolences to his entire family..the West Hawaii community has lost a friend.
