I am very sorry to hear of F/Lt Botkin's passing. My father flew with 158 Squadron and what these men did was truly outstanding. I am certain that I speak for all members of the 158 Squadron Association in expressing my condolences to his family. I would also be happy to share with the Association any stories or photos that the family would care to share through inclusion in the Squadron 158 Archive. Feel free to email me: [email protected]

The Cowichan Valley Shrine Club would like to offer our condolences to all of Bill's family. Noble Bill was a proud Shriner and member of our Club for years and we loved to hear his recitals especially at our November 11th ceremony. Also of his many pictures he had of his bombing flights that he shared with us. We will remember him.
To the family. Our Club will be putting up a memorial plaque for Noble Bill in our Cowichan Hospital and if someone could contact me it would be appreciated as we have lost contact with the family.
Please email me at [email protected]

I grew up in Rouleau and at Mr. and Mrs. Botkin's house learned to love music and watch the dance lessons given with wonder. Bill's voice was something I still remember. I knew that Bill had served our country but as the vets who came home rarely said anything about the memories they had of those long war years I never knew what this soft spoken man had done so much in his war years for us here back in Canada.
Your rest is well earned and I hope you reunite with all your loved ones.

I truly wish I had visited more with you and Aunt Jean after I grew up. It is too late now and I am sorry.
