William Frederick "Bill" Boyd

Boyd, William "Bill" Frederick William "Bill" Frederick Boyd, age 73, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2021 in Grand Rapids, MI. Bill was born in Rockford, MI on October 24, 1947 to Frederick and Kathyrn (Kies) Boyd. He was a graduate of Rockford High School and he later went on to study auto mechanics at Ferris State University. After graduating from college, he became a school bus mechanic for Rockford Public Schools, where he worked for 40 years. There, he met Jeanie. Bill was a lifelong resident of Rockford and very involved in his community. He was a member of the Lions Club for many years as well as the Jaycees. You could find him telling stories at the hardware store or having a cup of coffee at Jody's with his friends. Bill and Jean loved their life living on Big Brower Lake. They traveled around the country, whether to see lighthouses in Maine or to go fishing in Alaska. One thing Bill and Jean really enjoyed was country line dancing. They were longtime members of the Rockford Reformed Church. Bill was a man with a kind heart. He loved to laugh, spend time with his family and tell story after story. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Tryphena Jean Boyd; his parents; brother-in-law Harold Braman and sister-in-law Patricia Watts. Bill is survived by his sister Bonnie Braman; stepchildren Scott (Elizabeth) Oostdyk, Randy (Sandy) Oostdyk, Sandra Oostdyk and Nanci Oostdyk; grandchildren Abby (Tony) Thomas, Alec Oostdyk, Hannah Oostdyk and family friend and kidney donor to Bill, Gregg Howard and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Bill will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at the Rockford Reformed Church, 4890 11 Mile Rd. NE, Rockford, MI 49341. Bill's family will meet with relatives and friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, September 20, 2021 at the Pederson Funeral Home, 127 N. Monroe St., Rockford MI, 49341.
