Bill's final interment will be August 18, 2014 at 1PM at Fort Snelling. A fitting goodbye for a veteran.

Sorry to be so late with my rememberance of Bill. I can tell you in all honesty that his departure is only partially true, simply a necessary physical leave taking. Remaining is what can never be taken, his spirit remarkably alive in the hearts and minds of all the hundreds of young boys he so ably guided as their Scoutmaster during their most formative years. We owe so much to him which can only be repaid as he would wish, by leading exemplary lives ourselves.
Troop 33 was forever altered when Bill returned in 1943 from serving as a B24 radio operator over Germany in 30 missions. With that background there were some shaky young boys facing the prospect of a new Scout Master. Bill was firm, but always fair, strongly encouraging you to do your best. And he could send semaphore signals faster than anyone thought was humanly possible. When I was fifteen he asked if I'd like to be handicraft expert on the camp staff. Would I! Wow, free camp all summer!
Sometime later when I was attending Northwestern I contactd Bill as a patent attorney regarding a map projection I wish to protect. We spent an afternoon together around 1952. And that I believe is the last time I was with him in person. But Bill's life and that of all his Scouts is so indelibly intertwined as to remain irrevocably permanent. On behalf of all your many Boy Scouts, now all older men, we salute you Bill Bradock, an early and most notable influence on our lives, never to be forgotten and unable to be repaid except in like service.

Thank you all for your kind words. Not a perfect man, Bill tried every day in every way to do his best, and to challenge all he knew to do the same. It was my honor to have him as my lover, spouse and partner for more than half my life. Save the date - June 2 - to celebrate that life at Bill's final closing night at Ajawah. More later.

Marge, I made a mistake in my previous posting. Somehow I saw your name written as Marjorie and thought you didn't want to be called Marge so, even though in the past I KNEW your full first name is Margaret, I had a senior moment and wrote Marjorie. Jeeesh. Peace, laurajames22

My sympathies to the family. Bill was such a kind, nice man. I am a friend of Mickey and Carol's and spent time at the house on Bedford. Many years ago, just because I was a friend of his step-son, Bill was very helpful with a copyright issue, which I am still very grateful for. I had no idea of his many accomplishments, very impressive. He will be missed.

Bill was a good stepfather to my co-worker Carol, and a fondly-remembered camp counselor/ director when my own father was a boy scout at Camp Ajawah in the 1930s. His life is a remarkable exemplar of the "greatest generation."

Even though it was so many years ago now, I remember with much fondness the warmth that Bill brought to the house on the corner in Prospect Park! He is leaving an amazing legacy with all his good works that will live on through those he's touched. My thoughts go to his family - may the good memories and stories of a life well-lived comfort you.

Dad, your legacy is the many lives you affected through direct service and indirectly through those of us who learned how to serve effectively by following your example. God bless your Spirit as you take much needed rest on the other side. Heartfelt condolence and sincere appreciation to your wife Marjorie for her dedicated years of love and care she shared unselfishly with you on this side. Peace be with you, Laura

Bill was everything a Scout should be and more. We appreciated his enthusasism and devotion. For many years he was Troop 39 to us.

We also enjoyed our visit down south and especially enjoy listening to his war stories. Don and Mary Roening
