William Brasco

William Brasco, 83, of Jeannette, died Thursday, April 29, 2021, at home. He was born May 23, 1937, in Jeannette, a son of the late James and Angelina (Perry) Brasco. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Heilig-Meyers Furniture and he was a veteran of the Army. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, a 48-year member of the Jeannette School Board, participated in the first Westmoreland County Coaches Association wrestling tournament where he was the gold medalist at 154 pounds. Bill was an avid Jayhawk fan and loved Jeannette, but most of all, loved spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed his travels to Wildwood, N.J., Las Vegas and New Orleans. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Mary DeAugustine, Lucy Antoniak, Samuel Brasco, Daniel Brasco and Virginia LaVella; two sons-in-law, David Tyger and Harry "Skip" Walt. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rita (Kruse) Brasco; his children, William E. Brasco and his wife, Lesa, of Greensburg, Scott A. Brasco and his wife, Corinne, of Mickleton, N.J., Mark Brasco and his wife, Dana, of Jeannette, Maria Tyger, of Jeannette, and Suzanne L. Swarmer and her husband, Ryan, of Gibsonia; 10 grandchildren and three step-grandchildren, Vincent and Adele Brasco, Nicholas, Rachel and Anthony Brasco, Jackson, Oakley and Rebecca Tyger, Casey and Meaghan Walt, Nathaniel, Joshua and Alyssa Swarmer; a brother, James Brasco, of Venice, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette, PA 15644. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Ascension Church. All current CDC guidelines will be followed including capacity limits.
