Bill was born on May 12, 1924 at Delisle, Saskatchewan where his family farmed. He served in the Royal Canadian Airforce during WWII as a radar operator, stationed at Gaspe Penninsula. Following the War, Bill worked as a printer and pressman for newspapers in Outlook, North Battleford, Kerrobert, and Salmon Arm before settling in Saskatoon and starting a family with his wife, Dorothy. Bill was employed with Western Producer Publications (Modern Press) for over twenty years until 1980, when he purchased the Melville Advance Publishing Company Ltd with partners Ken and Linda McMurtry. Bill retired in 1987 and returned to Saskatoon, marrying Betty McClure in 1992. Together they enjoyed hobbies such as designing and hooking rugs and dancing at the Army Navy and Airforce Veterans Club. Bill was fond of sharing his unique sense of humour with family and friends. During his life, Bill was an avid coin collector. He served as member and president of the Saskatoon Coin Club and member of the Saskatoon Bridge Club. Bill's sporting interests included curling, hunting, fishing and golfing. Bill loved spending time at the lake, enjoying nature and many friendships there. The family wishes to thank Dr. Baldwin and Saskatoon Home Care staff for their compassionate care. A private family Graveside Service will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saskatchewan Lung Association, 1231 8th Street East, Saskatoon, SK, S7H OS5. Arrangements entrusted to Kenneth J. I worked with Bill in moving the presses from Modern Press on 2nd Ave to our new address on Millar Ave. He was alway growling but that was just before the smile. I will fondly remember working with Bill as it was a pleasure working with him and for him.
