David and shopping: Once in a grocery store, he grabbed a loaf of bread and started throwing it back and forth to another fellow. Long passes. The other shopper had fun with it. Shopping in a clothing store he stood like a mannequin, posed and motionless. When he moved a nearby shopper jumped. Then laughed. But my very favorite happened at Publix in Naples, Florida. We were waiting at the deli for our number to be called. Standing next to David was a lady who gladly chatted with my husband. A fellow stepped in front of them and pounded his hand on the counter, demanding his steaks. He was given his package and he took off down the lane. David grabbed our cart and followed him down the isle
When the fellow wasn't looking David started tossing random items in the guys cart. He started walking the opposite way to the man and did this for several isles, greeting him and tossing random items in the guys cart. Finally on one trip he grabbed the pack of steaks. On his next pass by he stopped and showed the guy the package of meat. "Nice steaks." He said. The fellow recognized the package then looked at his cart. "Hey!"
What's all this?" David laughed and handed him the package and walked away. The guy just stood there. He had been had and knew it.
Shopping with David was an experience. I will miss his ability to misbehave and get away with it.

My biggest memory of Dave, well that´s easy for me it was the stories he absolutely loved telling and his laugh!

I have fond memories of Dave and our joint love of Basketball, we spent many hours talking our sport. He was a big fan of my son Paul during his playing days, and I had the pleasure of Coaching his son, Ben on the Delano 7th Grade Team. RIP! Doug Ludwig

Here is a photo of the true northern woodsman in action! He was celebrating after he and my husband, Robert, cleared a large fallen tree blocking our driveway. He was pretty proud!

We called him Uncle David mostly because my mom called him David and we just followed what she said when we were kids. I now know most people refer to my uncle as Dave but I still know him as uncle David. He was our favorite and best #1 uncle and he would remind us of that. He would say, hey Annie- you know I´m your favorite uncle! What made that funny to us is that he was our only uncle and he knew by saying that that would make us giggle and laugh! Making kids laugh he loved to do. Actually I think making everyone smile and laugh was his thing. I miss his voice and his nature. Rest in peace uncle David- one day we will meet again.

My first memory of Uncle Dave was when he would visit Danville at Christmas time. He would come to our house to drop off presents, but after making all of his rounds, he wouldn't get there to after midnight. To my parents dismay, he would sneak into my brother's and my bedrooms, I was about 3 at the time, and raise a ruckus to wake us up! He wanted to be sure he got to see us open his presents. Then once he was sure we were good and awake, he would leave, laughing all the way out the door because he knew my mom and dad would have one heck of a time getting us back to sleep! That's one of my favorite memories as a child. For awhile I thought he worked for Santa!

I am so incredibly sorry for the loss of David. My heart breaks for all of you. I have so many great memories of him as my brother in law back in the day. His laugh was infectious and I know he and Danny are yucking it up in Heaven while Priscilla is crying from laughing so hard. One of my favorite memories is from Kadook copying his laugh and I can still hear the both of them in my head. Wishing you all peace as you travel this new path of life before you and, as you do, look for the signs he will leave for you.
