We were all so sorry to hear about Will. Our children, Liska and Grady, were with him in youth at St. James United Methodist when we were stationed in Athens with the Navy. May God's peace be with you all in this time of sorrow.

At a time when Will was probably just getting by as an artist in Colorado, I remember one day, working in the Young Life office in Athens, when he called just to see how things were going for us. He stayed in touch with us because Young Life meant so much to him as a high school student and as a leader. At the end of the call he asked us if we needed anything. Kathryn, the area director at the time, said, that we didn't really need much but thanks, then stopped and said "Well, Will, actually we need a couple of overhead projectors to help lead songs with leaders and high school students." She didn't think much about that part of the conversation until about a week later. Out of the blue two very nice overhead projectors were shipped to our office. We looked at the invoice and found they had been ordered and paid for by Will Chittick...

Dear Marilyn,
My heart is broken for you as I know that you are missing your son. A mother's love has a very special quality about it. You gave him back to his heavenly Father and know that you will live with him eternally when you arrive there, too. Let your friends be God's hands and feet and care for you as you walk through this season of grief.
Love,
Jeannie

During my childhood, the Vickers-Chittick household was like a second home. I felt welcome and cared about, and I continue to feel that in adulthood whenever I am with any of you. I am so sorry that one of you is gone. I have known Will all my life and was always amazed by his awesome creative energy, his constant faith in God and his friends, and his wonderful resiliency. Such gifts will be truly missed. I am deeply saddened by his death. I hurt because of this great loss and the pain I know you all feel. Know that I hold you all in my heart and pray for you to find healing and peace.
Thinking of you throughout the day. Love,
Abbie

I'll never forget Will. We had a great group of friends at the St. James youth group. He was always so creative with his actions. God was his friend. I'm sure he is now figuring out how to build a super-high ropes course from cloud to cloud.
