William Cleary Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Aug. 24 to Aug. 25, 2023.
William "Bill" Michael Cleary, 64, of Madison, Wisconsin passed away on August 20, 2023. Bill was born on December 31, 1958, to William Joseph and Charlene Ann Cleary in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Bill was a man of many interests and passions. He was fascinated by science and science fiction, and was one of the initial subscribers to Omni Magazine. He loved philosophy - he even had a dog named Erasmus. Most important to Bill, however, was his deep and profound Catholic faith, which was clearly seen in his love and devotion to his wife, Monica, and their daughter Lindsay.

On January 11, 1986, a cold but sunny day, Bill married the love of his life, Monica Fleming. Bill and Monica's first daughter, Katie Rose, preceded him in death. He is survived by Monica and their cherished daughter, Lindsay, who was his delight and the light of his life.

Bill worked for many years at Attic Angel, where he was devoted to the residents, and worked tirelessly to ensure their safety, comfort, and care, until his medical conditions prevented him from continuing.

Bill was predeceased by daughter, Katie Rose; his father, William J. Cleary; and his sister, Kathleen. He is survived by his wife, Monica Fleming; his daughter, Lindsay Cleary; his mother, Charlene Cleary; and siblings: Colleen (Steve) Ortiz, Charlene Cleary, Eileen Cleary, Robert (Michelle) Cleary, Patrick Cleary, and Michael (Carmi) Cleary, special niece, Angela Cleary, and many other nieces and nephews.

Bill was a man of honor and integrity and he deeply loved, and was loved by, his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

I came across Bill's announcement by chance and just thought I'd share that although I met Bill only a handful of times, I remember him as the nicest person.

All my condolences--and blessings to everyone.

One of my favorite summer memories of my childhood is Billy! He had a contagious laugh, a smirk and an Irish twinkle in his eyes! God called him home. We have another angel to watch over us!

Dear Katie, Colleen, Char, Eileen , Bobby, Pat and Mike,
We were so very sorry to hear about Billy. We have been praying for him and all of you. I'm sorry to say that it's been years since I've seen Billy, but have fond memories of him as a baby, child and young man. He was special to all of us. I'm also sorry that I haven't seen all of you in such a long time. Life goes by all too quickly.
Mass is being offered for Billy and he will always remain in our prayers.
God bless all of you -
Bob and Cathy
