Bill Buck's Love for baseball and Zeta Psi is something I will always remember. As a young elder of Zeta Psi Fraternity I had the opportunity to meet Bill at a Phillies game. I'll never forget sitting next to him at the game and hearing him talk about the team and his experiences as a Zete with such passion. The Phillies did not win that night, but his advice about giving back I will never forget. At the end of the game I asked him for an autograph on a baseball I had purchased at the game. His first response was what player did I want to autograph the ball. My response was simple, his own. He was humbled at the thought of signing the baseball as he couldn't remember anyone ever asking for that in the past. The ball would eventually go up for auction at our annual convention to support ZeteKids. As a result, we were able to provide meals for a local shelter that year where the convention was hosted and a community service project in which hundreds of Zetes participated in. I am sure that many brother and friends of Bill have a similar story. Bill touched the hearts and minds of so many of us. My thoughts and prayers go out to Laura and Bill's extended family. Bill, you have left us a legacy to live up to. At our 50th convention, a poem was written for a brother whom passed. "Think, then, of the power wielded for love and fraternity by the thousands of Brothers embraced by the mystic tie and secret bond of Tau Kappa Phi. For I count all who have gone before to the high lodge above of heaven, as well as those who remain with us to welcome the increasing number to follow. As has been well sung Fast as the roling season bring The hour of fate to those we love, Each pearl that leaves the broken string Is set in Frienship's crown above; As narrower grows the earthly chain, The circle widens in the sky; These are our treasures that remain, But those are stars that beam on high," In TKPhi Jonathan Ernesto

On behalf of all of us at The Haverford School, we mourn the loss of Bill Buck '46 and our hearts go out to Laura and all Buck family members. One of my favorite stories that Bill proudly told is the performance he had scoring all seven points in a football game against EA and the headline in the local paper read "Buck 7 - EA 0." #BeatEA Most important is that Bill was a champion of and for others. His and Laura's and the family's support of scholarships, the arts and our Doc Thomas '23 Golf Outing over the years has transformed our School, community and countless lives of our boys, faculty and staff. Bill will always be remembered for his most gracious, kind, fun-filled and warm way of engaging others. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy and impact will live on here forever! I would like to thank and remember Bill and Laura Buck for their generosity in endowing the Doc Thomas Scholarship. My son was a past recipient. What a tremendous honor that was mutually beneficial for him, The School and society at large. So glad that your father is honored in this way, Laura. His spirit and Bill´s live on in the trajectory of the lives nurtured and changed by these two gentlemen and you via the Doc Thomas Award. The Buck clan is first class all the way and Bill embodied all the finest attributes that anyone seeking to be the best human being possible would want to emulate.
He certainly touched our family in a quiet yet powerful way.
With gratitude,
Kevin/Brendan Burke

A big heart and even bigger smile with a wonderful and positive outlook on life. I was blessed to have "Uncle" Bill as my godfather. He and "Aunt" Laura were true friends of my parents and family to me and brother and sister since I was born. A kind, generous and humble man he did far more than any memorial or obituary could ever hope to include. When I was young he took care to make sure I kept out of trouble and watched over me on joint vacations. I will especially miss our catch ups and his smart, thoughtful advice.

Condolences to all Aunt Laura and the entire Buck Family.

Love always
Peyton, Siqi, Peyton D, Liam, Kenyon, Churchill and Cashel

Bill was one of the most honorable, decent, kindly, and generous people I have ever had the honor to know. He made life better and more hopeful for everyone who came into contact with him. I give thanks for his life and example.

Bill was fun, energetic, athletic, compassionate, thoughtful, smart, curious, interested, engaged, patriotic, encouraging, and loyal. Together with his teammate Laura, Bill helped a lot of people. I will miss my dear friend. Of all the people I´ve known, Bill is at the top of the leader board for "liked/respected." September 28, 1928 was a good day...
