AVOCA — William "Billy" J. Corbett, 81, a lifelong resident of Main Street, Avoca, passed away on Monday, Jan. 30, 2023, at Wesley Village, Pittston.
Born in Scranton on Sept. 1, 1941, he was a son of the late William and Ethel (Quinn) Corbett.
William was a graduate of St. John's High School, Pittston. He attended Lackawanna Junior College, going on to work as a self-employed mechanic. He was an avid Lionel train enthusiast, and enjoyed the yearly party. He was well known by the council of the elders at McDonald's, Moosic chapter. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, traveling to Florida, and tinkering to repair golf carts. He was a member of Queen of The Apostles Parish. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Regina (Robbins) Corbett; and his brother, Joseph Corbett.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: son, Michael Corbett (Kara), Duryea; and daughter, Nancy Drouse (John), Westminster, S.C.; grandchildren: Colin Corbett, and Regina (Gina) Drouse; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 12 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 3, at Kniffen O'Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., Avoca, with Father Phillip Sladicka officiating. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until services begin. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Avoca.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Avoca Hose Co. at www.avocafire.net.
