Dr. William Harry Culbertson, 81, of Geneseo, Ill., died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at Hammond Henry Hospital, Geneseo.
Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service will be held this summer. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Geneseo Kiwanis Club. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Geneseo, will be assisting the family with arrangements.
Harry was born Feb. 4, 1922, in New Concord, Ohio, the son of William H. and Wenona Monroe Culbertson. He married Margaret Terrell on March 17, 1945, in New Vienna, Ohio.
He graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Ohio State University in June 1945, and was engaged in farm animal practice at Joy, Ill., for 33 years. He served on the board of Joy State Bank for 23 years and the Westmer school board for 12 years. He was a member of Joy United Methodist Church.
After moving to Geneseo in 1990, he was a member of the Geneseo Kiwanis and the Geneseo First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed delivering meals for the Geneseo Community Center for eight years.
Survivors are his wife, Pegs; children, William T. Culbertson, Springfield, Ill., David (Cheryl) Culbertson, Geneseo, Ann (James) Wright, Morris, Ill., and Jane (William) Wyfflels, Geneseo; grandchildren, Matthew (Colette) Culbertson, Battleboro, N.C., Nathan Culbertson, Melissa, Texas, Jill (Aaron) Siegel, Fresno, Calif., Michael (Melissa) Wright, Morris, Ill., Susan (Curt) Strubhar, Bloomington, Ill., John, Grant and Blake Wyffels, Geneseo; great-grandchildren, Emma and Anna Culbertson, Battleboro, and Andrew and Eleanor Strubhar, Bloomington; a sister, Mary (Bryan) Faucett, Claysville, Ohio; and brother, Wayne (Frances), South Charleston, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother and sister-in-law.
